Gun Broker Question

How hard is it to buy from them? Do you need to try to get your FFL to send each vendor a copy of their license every time or is it just done once and kept on file with GB? Do they charge NYS sales tax or is it dependent on who the vendor is? Do you know if they sell the shoulder things that go up??

I’m looking around on there at a few things. Buds I have gotten a few pistols from and they couldn’t be any easier because my FFL was already on file with them. Thanks.

GB is an auction site. You deal with the "vendor". If you win the auction, you pay the vendor and deal with them for shipping. Whatever their terms are. If you buy something that needs to be shipped to an FFL, your dealer will have to send a copy of his license in most cases. Make sure your FFL will accept shipment from a non FFL as many sellers are individuals, not licensed dealers.

Read the terms of payment and shipping carefully and don't be afraid to ask for additional information and pictures.

Simple. You buy from the dealer on GB then Send his email to your FFL asking them to send them a copy of their license to the vendor and it is done. Have done it a 100 times.

Why do you think it's a PITA? Seller has something you want. If you want to pay seller's price, you pay seller. Your FFL gives seller his info. Seller ships. You pick up at FFL. It's no different than buying from anyone on this forum or from Bud's.

When AMMO Inc finalizes their takeover of Gun Broker, I wonder if all GunBroker purchases of accessories, holsters, parts, and ammo will be to FFLs in NY too. There was a period when Ammo Inc stopped shipping to all NYS except for FFLs.

As I see it, GB is just a facilitator for selling and buying. There are numerous such sites although they are probably the largest and well known.

I suppose they could institute some shipping rules for sellers though.

They are gun ebay.

If ebay allowed guns, they wouldn't exist.

Just thinking of trying to hunt someone down at the FFL to start emailing or faxing forms over... they're already very busy. Buds has everything on file already. I click a button and the gun arrives 3 days later.

If buds has it and their price is competitive, then they are a better solution.

Think of it where buds is like Amazon and gunbroker is like Ebay. They both still exist because they serve different markets.

The problem now is hunting down the gun you want. Gbroker was the only way to get the last shotgun I wanted. Find a hobby ffl holder near you and you'll be good.

Looking at a few neat things. A Springfield 10mm 1911, and I really have a thing for an HK USP, probably in .45. I only buy new so that limits me a bit. I found the HK but the seller lists a Priority Mail shipping option and to my knowledge the post office will not ship a firearm, so this takes away the sellers credibility in my eyes. I'm very skeptical when it comes to sending someone online $1,000+.

Yes sir! A little too expensive though. I think a good price is around $800 but those days are probably gone.
I would also want to convert it to decocker only, I'm pretty sure it's easily done.

You should probably invest some time and learn the rules before you write off the whole service. FFLs can ship handguns USPS.

It took me a while to pull the trigger on gunbroker. I didn't like the idea of mailing a money order to a trading post in Idaho for an old S&w 66. But, 3 days later, I had shipping confirmation to my ffl and the people were awesome. As long as you have a good rapport with an ffl at home, it is a pretty smooth process. And most ffl's on gunbroker take credit cards now albeit for 3 percent more. Just make sure the seller has a very good history and you should be ok.

FFLs can ship handguns by USPS. Normal citizens only long guns.

It was pointed out already but read the sellers payment options. I use a credit card when I buy but some sellers add a percentage on if you pay by card. The advantage of a credit card is that you have them if the seller doesn't come through

There are numerous vendors and private sellers on GB. Different vendors will require your FFL's Lic to be sent to them.
I believe Buds also has an account on GB.
(I've purchased firearms from the same GB vendor, and had to have my FFL resend their lic to them each time I purchase another gun from them. Not a big deal.)
Different vendors may/will have different policies when it comes to payments & shipping. Some vendors don't accept CC. Some only use certain courier service. Some will not sale/ ship to certain States.
I have heard of retailers using USPS to ship firearms.
Sales tax: As of 1/1/21 GB started collecting sales tax in 8 States. I don't believe NY was one of them. However, if you buy from a NY vendor on GB, they will charge NY residents the sales tax.

I dont understand what difference it makes who they ship it with.I bought a mini 14 thru gun broker.It was as easy as could be.I made the deal,paid and had his FFL email my FFL his info and it was shipped to my FFL.I have no idea who they shipped it with.
