Gun broker became the largest site because it offers a safe and easily used format that is administered by responsible people using reasonable rules.

I have used it for buying and selling for over 10 years and never had an issue.
I've purchased a few gun on gunbroker. Never had a problem. I recommend only buying from sellers with a few "positive rating" under his/her belt. Be sure to read the entire listing. Go through the photos thoroughly. Ask for more pictures if necessary.
Read through the seller's payment preference & verify whether he is a FFL or private seller.
Depending on your FFL.. some require the gun ships from FFL to FFL.
Some sellers won't ship to NY ( some sellers avoid shipping to NY like if we were CA.)

I know you're asking about GB but I've bought from Armslist. So far no issues. People have been pretty trustworthy.

I've bought a number of military surplus rifles through GB over the years, and the overall experience has been good. When buying any used gun it's up to you to do your research to know exactly what you're getting-ask questions and request more pictures if necessary. GB has a buyer protection program, but it's generally considered to be useless.

when you go through an FFL, what is the average Transfer fee? $20 to $50 ??? or does it depend on the FFL

Pistols have to go FFL to FFL. Rifles and shotguns can go private seller to FFL.

I used GB before. Dont expect to get any deals though. Most times I find it's more expensive. I'm sure you can find a deal just look elsewhere as well.

Yes they can. You will have to find a reliable FFL on your end who will accept from a private individual. Some still do, mine does. A copy of the sellers DL along with one or two additional pieces of info. Are required.

I have purchased several handguns and long guns off of GB over the last few years. No issues yet. Like others have said you have to do your homework, look at all the photos closely and if the description is lacking as questions. If the seller is vague or avoids answering a particular question I usually walk. There are plenty of Other guns for sale out there. I sometimes ask if I can call to talk about the gun. I can usually get a pretty good feel for a person during a conversation.
I've bought and sold about a dozen total off GB, never had an issue.

I bought a bunch of guns both handguns and long guns on GB, never a problem. Just remember add on the shipping price and DEL FEE to the price of the gun.

I have bought and sold several hand guns to guys in net York. I have shipped to their NFL guy with a copy of my driver license, pistol permit and C&R permit
. The hand guns I bought they had their FFL guy mail it to my FFL GUY here in Washington State.

I was bidding on GB when I shouldn’t have lol. I bought a RIA 19111A GI model. I didn’t have any issues.
In my neck of the woods, the FFL fee varies with different FFL's. Some charge $25, others charge $45. There are some that charge more...
I believe GB has a feature that can locate the FFL's in your area by zip code or town name. But you'll have to contact the FFL for their transfer fee.

Don't know how you figure that... I know I've saved a few hundred on my last NIB purchase there. That's including the shipping and FFL fee!

well, I was searching around on GB and found an FFL in Maine selling a Marlin 45-70, NIB for $200+ ?
the only thing I could think was, it was made during the Poor QC years and they are trying to unload them

For $200, I'd take a chance. If it was crap, you could take it apart, sell all the parts individually and triple your money.

I haven't seen many deals at GB. Usually more expensive from what I've seen. Maybe even some price gouging during the BHO panic years.
I've purchased a few from GB and never had an issue. Shipped directly to my FFL without issues, all items as described. Before purchasing look at seller feedback.
Got a lot of things from GB, parts to whole guns. Never had an issue.
