Guns I wish were made but won't be (mostly)

Make NYGF About Guns Again:

1- Modernized version of the P239 adapted to take P365 magazines. Never happen 'cause it'd never sell but I'd love one.

2- a 10mm version of the P227. P227 sales were abysmal so again, never happen

3- A 7 shot Plus plus version of S&W's 586. No idea why this isn't a thing, they already make a blued 7 shot cylinder for the 586 L-Comp. Just release a a standard 586 Plus too.

4- A 7 shot version of the new Colt Pythons. Maybe the way Colt does their cylinder lock up prevents this?

5- a Glock PCC. S&W already beat Glock to the punch on this one but if Glock did one also they'd still sell like gangbusters. Probably never happen.

6- a Ruger .357 Lever action. This one I'm sure Ruger will get around to eventually.

7- not something I personally am super keen on but I'm sure a lot of people would like to see the Ruger Deerfield. 44 semi auto carbine back in production. A .357 mag version would be welcome too I'm sure.

Well, 6 either already happened or is extremely unlikely to ever happen depending on how you look at it. Ruger owns Marlin now, so getting a Marlin 1894 in .357 is pretty much exactly what you're asking for. Unless you want one specifically Ruger-branded. In that case, I think it's a longshot that they'd step on their Marlin brand's toes by releasing a Ruger-stamped lever action.

-I would love to see Glock make a Gen 5 version of the G36 but in 10mm

-I would love Sig or someone to make a hammer fired gun that utilizes a Fire control unit that could swapped from SA to DAO to DA/SA and that you could swap grip modules, slides, barrels, magazines and calibers with ease. Either like a 1911/2011 type gun or like a P226/229/220 type gun. I absolutely love my Sig P250 that I can reconfigure grip module, slides, barrels and calibers ranging from 380acp-9mm-40SW-357sig-45acp but it sucks that it can only ever be DAO.

-a 12 gauge shotgun where the barrel is on the bottom and the magazine tube is on the top and the gun loads and ejects from the top, much like how a Chiapas rhino is.

-a smith and Wesson X frame in 30-30

If I may add to this...a Ruger/Marlin 1894 Cowboy series in .357 is my ask. I got a JM 1894 Cowboy in 45LC before they skyrocketted in value. Been seeking a .357 CB pre Remlin .357 1894 CB, but they are astronomical in price. After the issues I had with my Remlin 1895, I won't buy another made by Rem. Ruger makes it I will one of the first in line.

Ruger is already producing 1894 Marlin lever guns in 357 Mag. I have the 18 inch barreled version. They are about $1K.

I carried one when I lived in Texas, the P239 was great because it carried like a subcompact and shot like a full-size. Now imagine a p239 with a 12 round capacity.

Years ago, revolvers were tge only hand gun. Then, one day... the semi auto was invented.

Since the introduction of tge semi auto....

Nothing really new has come along. Everything is just changes and upgrades to existing ideas.

Nothing really new has come along. Everything is just changes and upgrades to existing ideas.

The flintlock was in use for centuries and itself was only an incremental improvement over the preceeding matchlock. It's successor, the percussion lock was again a small improvement on a basic design that spanned many hundreds of years. Firearms technology plateaus for long periods until a technological paradigm shift occurs. The self contained cartridge followed closely with smokeless powder is what allowed things to progress from muzzle loaders to self loading and ultimately full auto/select fire firearms feeding from belts or detachable box magazines in the span of a century. There won't be a significant difference in firearms designs until a whole new ammunition concept is devised. Even something like caseless ammo is simply a variation 9n an existing theme.

However there have been some fairly significant advancements in materials and sighting systems. In the near future we will see some pretty interesting things like unitized power systems that run all accessories on a given weapon and optics that integrate a variety of sensors to support augmented reality features.

Well you have the new Ruger LC carbine in .45. Not that it's legal in NY.

I’ve seen that before. It works but is a home done cobbled together gun. I’m talking more a real production ready shotgun. Would be even nicer if it was a semi auto.

Have another one: I like S&W's new ultimate carry J frame but I am dubious as the the .32 H&R magnum clambering. Partly due to concerns of its effectiveness as a defensive cartridge but more to its availability, not a very commonly available round these days. This gun in .327 Federal Magnum however I would definitely purchase, maybe trade my 340 PD in.
