Maybe I'm full of it, but I think that if the gun was removed from the equation, that old man would still be dead - either stabbed or beaten with a blunt object.
If Facebook Live was removed, the old man would still be alive, because this was about sending a message - without the ability to send that message, a random person would not be targeted. Not that this crazy guy wouldn't try to kill someone - it would just be the ex-girlfriend or someone close to her. Is that any better? Hopefully they would see him coming with foreknowledge that he meant harm - and this would be a story of a defensive gun use.

I don't like facebook. I don't understand the reason people advertise their personal life, chances are it will be used against you. Having said that, blaming facebook for this act is like blaming a Post Office for all the bombs mailed to people over the years. Anything used so often by so many will be used in all sorts of good and evil acts.

I would not be at all surprised if he headed into the countryside between Erie, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo, pulled in to some farmhouse off the road, then shot and killed the owner and hid his vehicle in order to avoid capture.

Haha, no I am doing no hunting at all. Just spending lots of time on interstates in the search radius, and tend to keep my eyes on my surroundings while driving. Perhaps the overhead signs in OH or western PA will have tag numbers...they do that quite consistently for amber alerts and such.

Personally I don't care if they need it, I don't even care if they blow it all on alcohol and drugs.
We can't help the poor guy, for the most part we can't even help catch the douche who did it. Maybe the guy who got killed was an asshole, but if he was a decent man, then he would have wanted to do something for his family, its the least we can do..
