My Club's Range is open all throughout hunting season with restricted shooting hours. There is no shooting before 9am and after 3pm. This is a posted rule and we also make and post signs on the firing line to remind people of the shooting hours.
On Wednesday last week a new club member arrived after 3 and started shooting. Another club member who lives near by came to the range and told the offender that there was no shooting after 3pm because there are people in the woods just beyond the club boundary. The offended became argumentative and demanded to be allowed to shoot his last two rounds.
We caught this all on video and are taking steps to ban the offender from Club Membership and the Club's Property Permanently. If the offender enters the property for any reason the Club will pursuit trespassing charges.
Why do people think the rules do not apply to them? No shooting after 3pm is a rule that has been in place since the club was started in 1979. The person that granted the Club the land for the range had sons in school and wanted them and future generations of his family to be able to hunt after school.
Here is a Tip: If you are new to a club you want to read and abide by the rules even if you think you are special. Range rules are in place for a reason. Violating them puts others in danger and may lead to you never being able to shoot there again.
