The posted rules explain that no shooting after 3 is a condition of our land agreement. To intentionally ignore this rule puts the entire club at risk of losing the land. The board determined this behavior was an unacceptable risk to the livelihood of the club and acted accordingly. If the guy had shown remorse for what he had done he may have been given a break.
I shoot at the club all year round. I get up in there morning and shoot until three during the restricted shooting time otherwise I pretty much shoot until dark. Ours is the only club in the area I know of that does not shut down during hunting season. I would love to put 70 foot berms all the way around the property but, that is not feasible so rules have to be posted so we can shoot all year round and to keep the neighbors happy.

It basically goes like this. You sign and agree to the rules whether stupid or not. You aren't forced to be there. Failure to abide by the rules and you are out. It's that simple.
There are exceptions of course if you truly somehow didn't know or forgot and humbly apologize and promise not to do it again. Then it's up to the owner of the private property whether to expell you or not.

I am afraid 200 Acers would barely fit in what I want to do, 1000 acers of shooting range with a house on the end would be perfect. 20 acers wide 50 acers deep with a hill at the end. Range lane sides lined with fruit trees and yardage markers. An elevated shooting deck right off the kitchen (so I can get my coffee). I would be in heaven.

Our shooting rules are pretty simple. the only rules that could be categorized as "no fun allowed rules" are the tracers and exploding targets. These rules are posted in every shoot house and on the Club house bulletin board (front window) there are special signs posted during deer season right next to every shooting position that state no shooting before 9 or after 3 from xx date to xx date. We have taken all the guess work out of "when is deer season?"
Shooting All shooting will be done in a manner so that the bullet will be stopped by the berms behind the target banks. No targets will be placed on top of the berms.
Be courteous to our neighbors no shooting before 9 am or after sun down.
Be courteous to your fellow shooters. Allow time between sessions for shooters to change targets. No firing is allowed when someone is down range (on either the pistol or rifle, shotgun range). The Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun area are one continuous firing line. Do not move forward of any portion of the firing line before ensuring all three areas are clear. Pick up your brass and collect your targets when you are done shooting.
Shotgun patterning is allowed only on the orange (snow) fence target backer (pistol range 25 yard line)
Explosive targets will not be used on the premises.
Tracers will not be used on the premises.
All shooting will be done in a safe manner. Hearing and Eye protection are required when on the firing line.
Only Clay Targets will be used on the shotgun range. They will not be launched over the pistol, rifle range or toward the property line (ditch to the right of the shotgun area).
Cease fire may be called by anyone, for any reason, at any time.
Do not assume the range is clear without confirming with all of the firers present on the range grounds.
Avoid sweeping (pointing at) other people with your gun’s muzzle.
Any unsafe conduct is grounds for removal from the premises and the offender’s club membership being revoked.
Special range hours during Deer Rifle Hunting Season.

He agreed to abide by the club rules as a condition of his membership. He made the decision to disregard the rules, at which time he also made the decision to accept the consequences of his actions. No further explanation should be required.
There used to be 1000 yard berms at the Alabama Swamps range but I heard they were taken out because too many people were over shooting the berms and striking adjacent homes.

we have a few hundred yards of woods between our rifle 400 yard line and the property boundary, on the pistol and shotgun side of the range we only have 150 yards of woods before the boundary. I have seen people overshoot the 400 yard target line and the bullet strike high on the berm. I am just glad we have that kind of buffer zone in place to deal with high shots.

The state run range that I go to down here is closed during hunting season because they use the land to take disadvantaged and disabled kids hunting. Its a good enough reason that I don't mind driving 15 minutes further to a different range.

some are LOL ... last week my friend and his wife and i head to the range " first come first to shoot , we had to wait like 20 mins for one guy , no problem.
while we were waiting 4 more guys show up .. chatted with them some .. told them we have like 5 guns to site in , there welcome to join us were going to shooting a while ... they all said thanks we might , but they all just stayed up by the club house chewing the fat .. OLD CLUB FUDD some walking out to us just as were finishing up .. how long you going to be , guys have been waiting a hour .. The guys waiting never talked to him or he to them LOL ..
oh well .. while we shooting 2 other guys showed up and just came out to us .. can we shoot ..wont take long .. no problem join us ..

The problem is people are stupid sometimes. We had a guy at black rock who apparently was shooting from the hood of his car up at targets way past the top of the embankment. We could tell because his fucking rounds went right though the wood pillars of shooting area. In fact, some of them went clear though the very range rules, the wood it was stapled on, and through two pillars.
I don’t think they’ve caught him so far, but what an idiot. Ruining the range for a few extra yards? Idiot.

Never a line to shoot at our place we only have 110 members so our range is pretty quiet most days.

FUDDs are people who aren't in it for the rights. They're fake patriots who only care about their ability to hunt.
People who don't follow the range rules are just idiots -- regardless of if they're a FUDD or not.
Lol, I'll see that too. I go to the range once a month, if I'm home that month anyway, for at least six hours, but typically 8 hours. Last went just on the 21st there. Was there from 8:30AM till about 6:00PM. During that time I saw dozens of hunters show up, fire 3-9 rounds and leave. But some of them were very interested in what I was doing, one even sat with me and spotted rounds for me through my spotting scope after he had confirmed his zero. Another came over when I was blasting clays and was all hootin' and holleren' when I went 20/20 in one stretch. So I'll not call em Fudds as we were all having fun, plus they all liked my AR. I love my range!
The one thing that did raise my eyebrow a little was the guy who shot next to me for an hour with his .22, the whole while telling stories of inconsiderate people shooting upnthe facilities but then left without policing up his hundreds of .22 cases. I did it for him after he left.
