Brian at this time NY only has 2 active Shoot Boss'es that I am aware of which are needed to run a Appleseed Shoot. Both are members of my Club and we have quit a few instructors that are also members. @Phauxtoe has been here for a Winterseed , and people do come from farther then you (Long Island, Buffalo and such) You may watch the Appleseed site for shoots in Conn. or NJ.

Conn has a bunch usually and PA has tons!
i have never seen one in NJ, but wish they did.

Thanks for the Info. I will monitor the Appleseed site for updates.

There's alot of truth to that. My sister is a martial arts instructor and teaches tai chi (both open hand and with weapons) among other things. She's had alot of setbacks with her health and various injuries over the years and her doctors claim all the training she's done over the years has helped with both during surgeries and also recoveries. She just turned 70 and received black belts in three different martial arts disciplines within past few years.

I would suggest that if you are going to shoot with open sights that you look into Tech-Sights they will give you a sight picture much like your M1 and they are very adjustable (get the adj tool also) I recommend the rail-mount ones should you ever want to put a scope on the rifle it's just one allen screw to remove.

So I got the Tech Sights mounted on the 10/22, as well as replaced the 1" sling swivels with 1.25" and GI sling. The GI sling doesn't really impress me - I think I might stick with the 1907 style in the end, but I'll give the GI sling a few more outings to see if I just need time to get used to it.

The Tech Sights, though, are awesome! Much easier to use than the factory sights. Thank for recommending them! Bench resting I was able to make single holes with 5 shots for a change, whereas with the factory sights I could never really aim at the same point consistently.

Thanks! Even though I don't agree with the politics of most people here, I'm enjoying myself and finding that there are some good people here.

I did, though I almost missed it. I thought it was the weekend of the 19th and had been planning to get a hotel nearby so I would be fresh and ready for the event. Instead it was the weekend of the 12th and I found out the night before, so I ended up getting up a 5am and driving a couple of hours to get there. On top of that I only got 3 hours sleep because of a prior commitment that Friday night. (D&D night. I'm a nerd.)

So on Saturday I was really tired and not able to give it my best effort. Sunday I couldn't even wake up and I missed the second day. But Saturday was really fun and I learned a lot. There's another one coming up in April that I want to go to so I can get the full experience, I just need to remember to put it on my calendar so I don't forget this time.

Yes definitely do another! Especially being more prepared next time.
