A faith is real if it has people who believe in it (that's what makes it a faith).
Now, there is a *very* big difference between being real and being correct. Obviously the vast majority of religions must be wrong (since most of them are mutually exclusive).
Just like communism is real, lots of people believe in it. The fact that it's never been achieved and all attempts have utterly failed, usually with a series of atrocities, proves that is is wrong, but that doesn't mean it's not real.
Followers of Christian and Muslum religions are the only ones that I hear talking about other religions being fake. Never hear the Hindu followers saying other faiths are fake.

Christians in India are harshly and frequently persecuted by Hindu nationalistic fanatics; murdered, raped, tortured, and so on. Practically all faiths in history have stated that other religions are fake, with the exception of some that syncritized and amalgamated their own religion with others, or forced those of other religions to syncretize and amalgamate their religion to the religion of the conqueror. Further, lets make no mistake. One religion that you didn't mention that claims all religions are fake (except their own) is godless communism and socialism. The Nazis, the Soviets, the Chicoms, the Khmer Rouge, the North Vietnamese, the Cubans, and on and on, all have attempted or are attempting to stamp out religious faith in anything that hints that there is a power over and above mankind, with a fervor and a zeal even the worst of the worst religions in the ancient world ever dreamed of, all in the name of "rationality" and based on the idea that "man is the measure of all things." Godless communism worships mankind, and as it has played out in world history, that has always meant some strong man; who, oddly enough, always ends up taking on mythical and quasi divine status, and who promises that he's going to lead the righteous to salvation.
Out of all the religions in the world, with maybe the exception of 1400+ years Islamic Jihad, the godless communists and socialists in the last century or so have practiced human sacrifice on an unparalleled ritualistic scale. It is their greatest and favorite sacrament, the shedding of the blood of their fellow man to appease their own little tinpot dictator idols and gods.
Furthermore, you can bank on it that the one world government that is being established, will be based upon a strongman, and a persecution and holocaust the likes of which has never been seen since the foundation of the world will follow.
Mark my words on this: the godless communists and socialists understand very clearly that religion "is the opiate of the masses." They understand that mankind craves religion, needs there to be something beyond itself, longs for meaning and salvation, and communist and socialists regimes are going to give it to the people of this world, good and hard. The people of this world will embrace one world government and its one world religion, and they will embrace and worship a world emperor that would make the likes of Hitler or Stalin or Pol Pot blush for lack of their own chutzpah in comparison.
There is an epic ecumenical movement afoot to get the major world religions to all get along and syncretize, to compromise their doctines and practices, all in the name of "peace peace" and one world government, which will turn into a bloodbath for anyone who doesn't get on board. I could see an argument that Pastafarianism is a fake religion, because it's not meant to be taken seriously, and I have my doubts that anyone actually believes in the flying spaghetti monster.
But certainly all the major religions are real. If you have devout adherents, it's obviously real.
Even most of the fringe cults are real. Jim Jones obviously had some devoted followers. No question the Heavens Gate folks sincerely believed in their faith.
Even the flat earth crowd and many flavors of atheiam would qualify as a religion IMHO. They would deny it of course, because they would insist that their beliefs were based in logic not superstition. But they both hold as a core tenet of their identity an unwavering faith in an unprovable assertion.
In NY they already let you wear religious headgear in photos, typically for the more “established” religions, I guess you could put it. That being said I don’t understand what he thinks he’s fighting for here, they already let you wear that stuff if there is a legitimately held belief, no extra freedoms will be won.
Ultimately he just makes lawful gun owners look like jackasses and more fringe than the left already thinks. Sarcasm and humor have their place but it just seems stupid to risk your permit for a gag, and no other reason.

What he's fighting for is personal freedom and civil rights.
Just because you do not like or believe whatever religion doesn't necessarily make it not a "legitimately held belief".
It's not about "extra" freedoms, it's about defending the ones we supposedly have, and that the State is trying to curtail.
If we keep allowing religious fanaticism, religious nationalism, and religious fundamentalism, eventually they will decide that YOUR religion is "fake" and will attempt to prevent YOU from worshipping as you wish. With so many different variants of Christianity, the odds are not in your favor that your particular preferred version is the one chosen as "right".
And, contrary to the religious diatribe above in this thread, all faiths do not consider other religions "fake". Not even most other religions do. I've found in my studies that it is almost exclusively a tenet of mono-theistic religions.
Our Founding Fathers were very understanding of the idea that there is more than one religion, having just lived through what is, essentially, religious persecution by the crown. while there is evidence in their writings of their beliefs, they knew it was WRONG to try to force that belief on others. Hence why the 1st Amendment was placed where it is.
But there are always going to be those who are completely opposed to anything that contradicts their very narrow world-view, or threatens their beliefs (though I don't understand how someone who is quietly worshipping as they wish is a threat to anyone else except those who would force their beliefs on others).

Enhanced ID is required for ANY air travel, and for facial ID nationwide, like Passports.
Mug shots do not allow head gear. Military ID is the same, for id'ing the fallen dead.
Our facial recog programs are legal, and here and now, to ID mug shot criminals and international criminals, who already have mug shots....and felons who commit crimes....ez id.
