Who has out of state permits, and what permits do you have? We are trying to build up this thread about out of state permits - http://nygunforum.com/threads/how-to-get-your-non-resident-pistol-permit-by-state.162 If anyone feels like it, it would be helpful to have some information regarding different states! Shoot me a PM if you can give instructions on how to obtain an out of state permit.

PA- was a 15 minute process in the Erie county (pa) permit office. Filled out a quick application, paid the fee, $20? or less, officer took my picture and had it in the mail within a week
NH- filled out by application along with copy of NYS permit, sent in with fee, $100, got i back in days good for 5 years

I had PA, the renewal came up and I allowed it to expire.

PA was so easy to get. When I went in, it took about twenty minutes. Very simple process.

What was the process for RI and MA? My company's home office is up in MA and I commute up that way regularly. I also drive through RI a few times a month to get to a client in New Bedford, MA.

Yea I go with the standard get me anywhere in the Country (by certain routes) if need..But I don't spend the money on useless ones that really don't matter, that just makes no sense to me unless you have a second home or something in a State that's not reciprocated.. I have NY,CT,PA,FL and for me it's this, Green and Blue..Fuck The extreme West(and done that uuuum never in 25 years of carrying) I'd still legally drive through with it stored..as we all are allowed to do under Federal Law

Hoping to see Trump elected, and full 50 state national reciprocity instituted, - especially as it would drive the anti gunners in NYC and elsewhere absolutely out of their fucked up minds!

The how to do it details for PA:

Once you have your NY CCW in hand, you drive to the PA County Sheriff's main office in the PA county nearest to you. There may be some that will issue a PA LTCF (License To Carry Firearms) if your NY CCW has restrictions, but most will not, so if that is what you have, you should check by phone first to see what their policy is.

The PA permit is good for a full 5 years, but must be applied for and renewed in person. Depending on the county, the cost is typically $20.00, or may be $25.00. Bring cash, NYS drivers license, and your NY CCW. Fill out the 1 page form at the Sheriff's office. They may ask for a few references, but mine were not checked. They took my picture, and issued my card on the spot. I went to McKean County location at 17013 Rte. 6 in Smethport, PA, 16749 (Phone: 1 888 836 1950 Toll Free, or 1 814 887 3454) which is south of Olean, NY. For my reason to carry, I checked "Self Defense". Unlike NY, they could care less what specific handguns you own. Twenty minutes in and out. Be sure to thank them for being so nice!

Check sites like usacarry.com to see what states have reciprocity with PA. I think it was around 30 states last time I checked. Note that FL does not accept the PA non resident license.

Without going into wicked length of detail, it was easy as just going on line to each State you wanted and clicked their link for "out of state" permits. Followed steps in directions of each, got fingerprints at State Troopers barracks, which for Putnam, you just walk in any and they do it free with no appointment. Sent application amount asked in each States directions,with picture required and fingerprints then waited. Florida had an online status checking or call the other States once a Month if you want try and move it along.

I do a "Multi-State" class for permits for NH, ME, AZ, CT, VA. FL, MA and UT. It is an all day class. I charge $150 and provide all the applications for each state as well as fingerprint for CT, MA and AZ, and passport photos for ME, CT, MA, VA and UT.

Here is an example of one class I have coming up in January in Fishkill.
MULTI STATE NON-RESIDENT CARRY PERMIT - UT, CT, AZ, FL, NH, ME, VA
This class is sold out but we can set up another anytime if people are interested. First half of the day is classroom lecture, second half is shooting, which includes drawing from concealment, reloads, shoot/no-shoot situations etc.

Each state has it's own requirements. For example:

UT is lecture only no live fire required. Application stamped by a Utah BCI certified instructor. Fingerprints and photos.

CT requires an NRA certificate that shows you have taken a basic pistol safety course with live fire. Fingerprints and photos.

ME requires NRA certificate that shows you have taken a basic pistol safety course with live fire within the last 5 years. Photo only.

AZ requires an NRA certified instructor to sign off on your application. Fingerprints only

FL requires an NRA certificate that shows you have taken a basic pistol safety course with live fire. Fingerprints by active LE and photos.

NH requires a photo copy of your "carry permit". No fingerprints or photo required.

VA requires an NRA certificate that shows you have taken a basic pistol safety course with live fire. Fingerprints by active LE and photos.

MA requires a class taught by a MA State Police certified instructor, Fingerprints and photos.

I run the class to exceed the requirements for each state. It's up to you which applications you wish to send in.

Class cost does not include the applications fees per state.

With these permits a NY resident will be able to carry concealed in:
Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, & Wyoming.

Recently, I had the need to get a permit to cover a state that my NY and PA permits do not cover, but FL does. So, I applied for it at: Florida Concealed Weapon License Application Information - Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. I downloaded the app online, and then mailed it in. They say on their website that they can take up to 90 days. On the application, it asks if you are active duty military or a veteran, and if so, check the box for expedited processing. So that's what I did.

The application also includes a tracking number specific to each individual application submittal. The biggest hassle was finding an LEO station to do the fingerprint card that I got from FTWNY when I took their Multi State course. My local PD said they would call me in a week or so when they had time to do them, and the NY State Police said they only do them certain days of the week, at 7AM or 7PM! They want you to have the fingerprint card already filled out before printing, and FL wants it filled out a certain way. FTWNY included instructions on doing that with the actual card, and I recall that they are also online.

As it happened, my daily travels took me past a NYSP station in another county. I stopped in, and they graciously agreed to do them on the spot, albeit after asking me if I knew they typically only did them certain days at 7AM...

I included my DD214, and copies of NRA courses taken with my application, and my timeline was as follows:

Regular US First Class mailed on Friday 3/3/17; per Post Office clerk should arrive on Monday 3/6/17.
On Friday 3/10/17, my $112.00 check was deposited, and my application status available online changed to read "received and being processed".
Monday 3/13/17 was a holiday.
On Tuesday 3/14/17, my check cleared.
On Wednesday 3/22/17 the online status changed to read that "my license has been issued on 3/22, and to allow up to 15 working days to be printed and mailed".
UPDATE:
On Thursday 3/23/17 the permit was mailed.
On Monday 3/27/17 it hit my mailbox. Also enclosed was a current list of the other states that honor Florida's permit.
3 weeks and 3 days total!

Not quite as fast as PA, but a hell of a lot faster than here in New Yorkistan...

I have carry here in Onondaga county, Florida and Utah I got through a class from Rochester Personal Defense, and I just yesterday stopped in a much freer state of PA, and had a great experience in about 15 minutes walking out with a PA carry permit. The Florida and Utah give quite a spread ofreciprocal rights
