Help me pick an SKS

I understand that, but I just dont see their value above what I said, probably because I landed mine for $89 long ago. I kept the wood on both of mine also, but they are made for midgets. I'd love to build an AR in the same caliber but not till I can get add one's you want too. Admittedly Rooftop's sks is sexy as Hell and they're fun to build but I'd rather go without the evil features and take a mini thirty for the same money. I saw one last week, new old stock, unused at $900ish
Though I guess in the end everyone should have an sks in their collection.

These eat up anything great price

Because it's sucks unless you drill and tap the side of the receiver. None of the dust cover mounts will hold zero.

Even if you drill and tap the receiver, you lose the stripper clip ability with a scope of any real size.

Really though to have it be square/correct it should be installed with a milling machine.


Optics on the SKS never had great options. It wasn't used very much as a dmr.


Commie guns in general don't lend themselves well to optics. It's always going to be a chin weld.

That is what I did. Used the Choate mount and I didn't need to use stripper clips since I had the mag mod.

My friend also has one of these. Was dirt cheap and works well. They don't make bad stuff for range plinking guns.

Just a heads up…and not mine..there’s a nice 1950’s Norinco SKS w/blade Bayo on the CMP classifieds (go to page 3 of the “Other” category). Fairly priced.
