Help Needed Buffer Retainer Spring

Dissembling a lower this evening and I launched a buffer retainer spring. Stupid rookie mistake. Is there anyone near Westchester county that has a spare or can sell me one. No time to order one I need this lower for Saturday. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Sorry I didn’t get home till late. Glad you found it. I did have one in an oops kit . Definitely get one it’s worth it.

I recently sent a gas block roll pin flying and had to drive 1 hour round trip to get another. What a pita.

Future notice. Buffer plunger and spring is not necessary for function. It just keeps things in place while taking upper off.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

@Jem45472, you're correct. I don't even have 1 in my AR. I just use my thumb to release the buffer tube when I break it down to clean. No big deal to me.

In a pinch you can use a spring from a pen. Not ideal but works

Any time I drop anything in my gun room it always rolls under the radiator, sometimes having an old off level house has it's advantages.

I hate that moment when a spring goes flying across the room, especially when you have a hammer and punch in your hands. Its almost like losing your best friend. Then you hear the spring bounce off a few different places and don't know where to look. I keep one of these small organizers with a bunch of different springs and detents and other small parts. This thread reminded me to look at what I have and its looking a little low on small parts. Time to place an order. Thanks for the reminder.
