I don't know if that would pass muster since we don't have definitions on pistol grips like California does where it specifies the position of one's thumb on the grip. In the end, it's just a pistol grip wrapped in kydex and no different than a pistol in a kydex holster. It's still a pistol and it's still a pistol grip underneath the kydex.
Guess we wont know unless there is a safe act court case. I highly doubt we will see one. It seems like any time it comes up it is just an add on charge.
I did see a lot of AR15 rifles at the cuse gun show that only had bullet buttons and AK variants with kydex.... and there were a ton of cops on duty there.

Yep. That's the gist of it. And when they arrest as the one and only charge they allow you to plead down to a lesser charge that isn't a big deal to avoid case law.

I had a Hipoint 45 ( because you know, it makes far bigger holes ,sorry will
) I figured it would be just a piece of junk plinker, but I was surprised to see that after hundreds of rounds I never once had a failure!! and it was accurate out to 50 Yards easy. I had no expectation of that kind of performance for such a cheap gun .
