'It's either them or me': Homeowner's attorney speaks out on Deerfield fatal shooting
Looking better and better.
Very complex scenario my ass.
'It's either them or me': Homeowner's attorney speaks out on Deerfield fatal shooting
Looking better and better.
Who knows?. Local news reported the homeowner initially called 911 to report a burglary in progress in his garage and there was a dispatch for a "home invasion". NYSP Keller states the two shot were in the home, the shot male was able to run out of the house and went to a neighbor home across the street for help. Keller also said their were no intruders. It does not look like much of a garage.

Quick let’s call that divorce lawyer from Syracuse! HahaThere's a rumor going on at work, that it was a legal fire arm up until last year. i.e. he didn't renew his permit with the state. This could be a huge can of worms.
Some interesting points ...
“The home does not have electricity. It does not have running water. I don't think it's a place anybody should be living. That all makes this very complicated,” said McNamara.
Don't forget he'll end up being evicted to bootnow they will drop the gun charge and hit him with a DEC law for peein and poopin on the lawn ( undocumented outhouse ) .
Don't forget he'll end up being evicted to boot
Now the family of the criminals says they were " victims of gun violence"! My ass. They were victims of their own poor decisions and being general thieving scumbags. Cry me a river....
'It's either them or me': Homeowner's attorney speaks out on Deerfield fatal shooting and Talerico family responds
This is a reasonable charge, given NY laws.
Most importantly there is no mention of him being charged with any crime related to actually defending himself. Now if this were the case of somebody temporarily borrowing an unregistered gun (e.g. registered to his dad and his dad left for vacation and he temporarily takes custody to defend himself), I would have a huge problem with that. But instead what happened is this event just shone light on the fact he had illegally owned this for a long period of time.
I don't see it as a SCOTUS issue. This case has nothing to do, seemingly to me, with him actually defending himself.
It's a potential case because NYS laws are in contradiction to federal ruling. The whole not being able to own a hand gun without a permit isn't 100% kosher. But I do agree it's a long shot. This is a reasonable charge, given NY laws.

And the homeowner shouldn’t have talked to the trooper IMO.
It wasnt his gun
If it wasn't his gun, whose was it?
If he inherited it, it is his gun. Heller applies.
if it belonged to someone living in the house, Heller still applies.
If he stole it, then he should be charged.
You don’t know that it would mean more initialTalking to the troopers like he has is very likely why he is only charged with the "illegal" gun possession, which would have been immediately obvious to them anyway once his name was run. The only reason he hasn't been charged with the perps' deaths is because he told a story consistent with currently available facts.
How would he have been better off clamming up which would have DEFINITELY meant more initial charges?
Heller leaves the door wide the hell open for registration of handguns. It was not his gun. It was his deceased father's gun.
