I'm sure someone could stop the cylinder from turning or block the hammer. Some revolvers have internal hammers however. The likelihood of someone stopping the cylinder turning is much less than pushing the slide out of battery.

Internal and external hammers have the same issue?
You grip the cylinder and it's the exact same as a slide out of battery.
I just meant someone could get their hand between the hammer and the gun to block it.
I suppose that doubles the chances with revolvers?
Semi:
SA: Hammer blocked
DA: Slide held
Revolver:
SA: Hammer blocked
DA: Cylinder held.
Other: I can grab the cylinder and block the hammer in one move.

The chance of any one of us having to use our weapon of choice is very, very small. So it boils down to what makes you feel secure, Semi-auto, revolver, single-action, double action, 380, 9mm, 38spl, 357mag, 40caliber, 45acp or anything else in between.
I'll stick with my Smith 642, working at the farm I killed about 35 cows with it. One shot in the brain cavity and they were DONE.

Tomorrow when we go to the Woodland Park Zoo I'll probably carry my Colt 1911 in addition to the 642.
You can see all of the shit that gets into the pocket sleve, try shooting your semi with that shit in the action. Chances are it won't work, the same with a revolver with an exposed hammer.

@GOPerfect I bought them in the 90s so I can't remember what they cost but it couldn't have been much, they don't cost a lot now. I used the ones with the pass through belt attaching points and adjustable retention straps for my 1911s and the ones with the belt like retention strap for my revolvers. They could handle different models of auto loaders or revolvers. I used to remove/cut off the retention straps because they were not needed for the games I was playing. Of course my expensive leather holsters only cost about 50 bucks back then too.

Love the 642/442. Great ergonomics - fits hand superbly (unlike the 2x4 grip of a semiauto). Confidence inspiring - it WILL go bang. Kicks like a mule with +P loads however (Speer gold dot short barrel).

I use Hornady Critical Defense cartridges in all of my conceal carry guns only because it is "ALWAYS AVAILABLE", so I have the same ammunition when ever I need new.
I did buy a stainless model 640, basically the same gun but made out of stainless instead of aluminum alloy.
The 642 isn't something you want to use as a plinking gun, but is serves the purpose it was intended for. A very reliable defensive handgun that is almost fail proof. I can hit my target decent with it, if I couldn't it would of been gone long ago. I don't keep guns that I am not accurate with.

Face to face distance - grabbing a double action revolver around the cylinder will prevent it from firing...just saying.

That's a good point. Though at that distance it becomes a hand-to-hand struggle anyway even if you had a 1911 instead of a revolver. When you are in that close it can go either way - it's 50/50 that you walk away no matter what.

Some people can't scientifically use their minds on how things work. My buddy bought an XDS with a similar holster like that but outside the pants. He printed to all hell so he bought another one like that but inside the pants. Still printed so he got a Glock .380 because it was thinner.
To them, a holster is just a holster. I have him my Remora I no longer use and now he carries the XDS.
I was present at a shooting where one of the cops did this. He came away with a badly broken thumb, but no worse thankfully. The perp was shot and killed by his partner. We heard the shot from the precinct down the block and all ran over there. She put one round in his chest threw the armpit. Perfect outcome.

I'm not a huge revolver fan but they would prob edge the Glock out in reliability. I would take a Glock still over a revolver but there is something nostalgic about revolvers.

I got a brass chip in the mechanism of a revolver. No clearing that. Had to be taken apart.
I was a machinic for a decade I know anything can fail. I've seen some stuff that seems impossible. I saw a tinny set screw off a throttle body come loose and tore a motor apart. It made it threw 3 of the 4 cylinders. Look at this one valve came right off.

Any thing mechanical can fail at any time, shit happens some times at the worst time. I don't worry about it, I just do what my minds thinks is OK and go on from there.

I have a few of those, they are for sitting the guns in the safe. Prevents them from contacting other guns.

Willjr75, the injury or physical disability issue is a very valid one. Friend of mine lacks one fully developed hand. Though can shot the snot out of a semi, racking the slide is arduous. On the other hand, can manipulate revolver reloads with no problem.
Now that all said, I like both. Often carry both. Glock or Kimber on my hip with a BUG snub on my ankle. Besides, they're fun to shoot! A little nostalgia. I started my career 30 years ago carrying a Model 19 until I changed depts. and was issued a Model 681. A few years later those were purdy stainless wheelies were traded away for Glock 19s or 17s (your choice back then). Hell, before I got on the PD, I had a couple old wheelies dad and I shared!!!
