I just got back from my local box store ( Runnings) and was able to fondle both a Shield and a Honor Guard (suprised they had one.).
Very similar.
Honor Guard has a slightly wider slide, more aggressive stippling and a couple other features not found on the Shield.
I prefered the HG sights and they're Glock compatible if I choose to change in the future.
Either would work for me. Mags are easily found for the M&P, not so much for the other one.
$10 less for the HG . One was $439. Shoulda taken notes.
I had to look that one up:When I'm in the market for a CC pistol, I'd buy one of these. I handled one at the Syr gun show last spring and liked it.
They are not common and the one the vendor had ( only one at the show) was a "Stand Off" model where the trigger frame extends 1" beyond the barrel.
Kinda odd looking and I think I'd get the normal one for CC. It would seem the stand off would snag on something while drawn.
The biggest complaint that I've read online is that most do not like the heavy use of company logo on pretty much every flat surface.
They had trigger issues on the first batch that has been corrected.
Dad always said, never buy anything the first year they're out.
Davidson's is having a sale on the version with a "Stand off" . Pretty much same price as normal one ($450ish) but you get an extra 7rd magazine.

What don't you like about the Shield's grip.I looked at them and passed pretty quickly on it. They are intriguing, but I don't like the sheiks grip and I did not like this grip either because they are the same gun. Also when I looked there were very few options for night sights and stuff. I liked there statement though. They hire a lot of vets.
It's just to thin for me. I like the feel of the double stacks way better. My hand just feels empty with the single stacks. I also shoot better with the double stacks. My support hand pad is in better contact with the left side of the grip. I feel the gun moves less on me and I hit the target more center than low and left. What don't you like about the Shield's grip.
Fair enough. Single stack sub compacts certainly have drawbacks. I live the way the Shield disappears in belt though. It's just to thin for me. I like the feel of the double stacks way better. Haven't had my hands on one of these yet -- but asking about them on a few other forums, everyone who has one seems to really like them. Several guys remarked that it has become their favorite EDC. One guy said he has 4 Shields that just sit in his safe now. I figure that this 9mm cartridge may be around for a while - may just finally buy one.
I have a shield and really like it. That being said I don't know why someone Would buy four of them!

That's the same with me. With the single stack XDS, my shots were low and to the left. I googled why and someone on another forum said that the grip was probably too thin.
He posted that if you take something skinny like a broom handle and squeeze it with your right hand, the top of the broom handle nose dives down and to the left.
Now if you take a fatter stick and squeeze it, the top moves a lot less because it fills your hand more.
That extra space in a single stack will cause you to squeeze harder. With the double stack, it fills your hand more so less pressure is used.
I tried it and it makes sense. I got a Glock 26 and low and behold, my shots were more to the center.
