A group of House Republicans formed the Congressional Second Amendment Caucus on Thursday.


The group, headed by Rep. Thomas Massie (R., Ky.), said the caucus plans to draft and sponsor pro-gun legislation in the upcoming Congress.


“Caucus members will lead efforts in the House of Representatives to pass meaningful firearms legislation and protect Americans against infringements of the Second Amendment,” the group said in a statement.

Our problem is that the entire United States Congress is supposed to be "the second amendment caucus." And....the first amendment caucus, and the third amendment caucus, and the fourth amendment caucus, etc, etc, etc.

If only a small portion of our House of Representatives is willing to express adherence to our Constitution, we have serious national problems....which we do, indeed.

Trump creates jobs, will give me a raise, and apparently he makes balls sprout too. I also believe he will keep us safer hopefully. I feel Isis will try something soon after trump is elected though.

The problem I see is that any legislation they end up trying to pass for national reciprocity will end up being a watered down clusterfuck, - and then if passed, we will spend years fighting to enforce it, as well as fighting the anti's over things like NYC.

For one thing, it needs to prevent states from allowing exceptions,- like NYC. It needs to specify that the permits are valid EVERYWHERE, with NO city or county exclusions whatsoever.

And,- it needs teeth to enforce it. It needs a clause that allows plaintiffs who have to sue to enforce it to recover damages and all legal fees from all persons or entities that try to obstruct it,- because we all know they will do their damn well best to obstruct it if it even passes.

Just my 2 cents... Oh yeah,...and FUAC, and the rest of them too.

Hopefully the Republicans in Congress have grown a collective pair and will take advantage of their newfound power. I'm hopefully just not overly optimistic!

The current bill says that. It says that your license is valid in another state as an unrestricted license for those states that issue restricted licenses to lesser folk.

OK, but the fact that I have an Unrestricted permit here in Erie County still does not allow me to carry in NYC.

I could see where if national reciprocity passed, that NY State and NYC would try to claim that it only applied to non NYC counties, because they would seriously lose their shit at the prospect of additional CCW holders roaming the streets of the big apple while packing. I can see others like San Francisco, Chicago, or other cities like Baltimore in the "may issue" states trying the same thing,- change their law to exempt the big cities.

Knowing how lawyers and politicians often try to weasel around laws, I believe a reciprocity law should explicitly require it apply to the entire country regardless of governing structure (such as the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico, Guam, Marianas Islands, US Virgin Islands).

After all, the 2nd Amendment seems perfectly clear to you and me, and yet, look at how much they screw with it every day.

I got a draft bill for them.

All arms legislation passed since the drafting of the constitution and the ratification of the bill of rights, that restricts the citizens rights to keep and bear arms is void and repealed. Any legislator introducing future arms restricting legislation shall be charged with treason and be put on trial for the public to see. Should a conviction be gained the legislator's execution will take place at noon the day after the verdict is reached.

I would prefer they made a law that said any government official attempting to infringe anyone's 2a right was a clear and present danger to every citizen, and that any force used to stop them was justifiable self defense.

I don't trust the government to police its own. Giving anyone the authority to stop them would put some real teeth in 2A.

Here's a novel Idea, how withhold ALL Federal Funds for States that don't comply with a National Reciprocity Law...Just like the Illegal alien..."Sanctuary-City" bills that are in congress..

Right but that is a statewide restriction for NY state permits.

Being that NYC issues "Unrestricted" licenses to certain people, they have to have reciprocity with other states. If they didn't issue licenses for anyone there, then they wouldn't be liable to have reciprocity.

At least that's how I'm seeing it.
