As Donald Trump gets to work on his agenda, left-wing media organizations like The New York Times are already making fools of themselves.

On his first day in office, Trump signed an executive order designating Mexican drug cartels as foreign terror organizations.
In certain portions of Mexico, they function as quasi-governmental entities, controlling nearly all aspects of society.

I agree fuck the NY Times but they may actually have a point. My guess is 50% (if not more) of the legitimate businesses in mexico are partially or wholly owned by the cartels. They have to put all that money somewhere. It's too easy to track and confiscate in the banking system so they just buy businesses. They essentially own the avocado industry in mexico because they went to all the farms and made them an offer they couldn't refuse. I suspect they did that with a lot of legitimate businesses. (My son likes a mexican soda brand called jarritos which I always refer to as "cartel soda"). With so many connections to legitimate businesses it is possible that going after the cartels could disrupt alot of legitimate trade between mexico and the US. That shouldn't stop us from going after the cartels but we should be aware of the consequences.

You're not wrong. But that's a price I'm willing to endure.

We should not be harming our country and society because we are worried we might lose cheap shit, or fun vacations, or different varieties of items. So be it. That goes for cheap shit from China, Mexico, etc. I don't want anybody our money going to the cartels, the CCP, the Taliban, corrupt countries governments. None of it. All should stop.

Getting the cartels out could just improve it.

Sure, they are probably propping up some junk business to launder their gains, but they are probably holding back good businesses just as much.
