A really long time it seems. I have routinely gone for 1k+ between cleanings (I have on multiple occasions shot that much in a single range session) and have gone just past 2k a few times as well, primarily out of laziness.
I generally clean after every range trip but sometimes it doesn't happen.
Every AR15 I have owned have been exceptionally reliable from the immediate post AWB Colt 6920, to the NYGF build and both my Daniel Defense rifles. The Colt in particular saw obscene round counts as I had little else to spend my money on as a soldier other than guns and can after can of LC XM198 and XM855. I would routinely take 4 cans out on a trip and come back with only a partial single can, or none at all.
It's weird though as I have seen my share of problematic ARs too. Most were home builds, others were cheap brands.
I can honestly say I have had more stoppages with my AKs including my Galil. And I love my Galil but its erratic ejection will sometimes bounce an empty case of a wall or post or even off a protuberance of an optics mount back into the action causing a stoppage.
On tge other hand my DDs in particular I could set up a five gallon bucket at 2 o'clock and catch 90% of the brass. I should try that sometime.
