How loud is 357 sig?

I'm a bit interested in this round as of late. Before the usual arguments of why it's a bad round and I shouldn't bother with it come out, let me get out in front of it.
-Yes it's expensive(I reload)
-Yes there are other calibers that can do the same if not more

Now that that's out of the way I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with it. I shoot 7.62x25 out of a M57 Tokarev and PPS43. I notice that out of the tokarev it's extremely loud. Thunderously loud. Like 44 magnum loud. Way louder than out the pps43 which has a 10 inch barrel. Now I'm thinking that the 357 sig might be stupendously loud as well considering the size of the case. Oddly enough though the tokarev charges are way more than the 357 sig. So maybe not as loud? Has anyone happened to shoot both to have a direct comparison?

I have a SIG with both the .40 and the .357 SIG barrels. I enjoy shooting the .357 more. I never noticed any increase of the noise, seems the same or maybe a little less with the 125gr. bullet, a real ripper there!!!!

The tokarev rises to obnoxious levels even outdoors lol. Maybe if I'm not lazy one day i'll video the difference in sound between a 9 and 762.

Recoil is not bad at all Gunslinger. I haven't shot it the .357 SIG barrel in a few weeks, seems if it was severe I would remember, definitely not anywhere near .45 ACP territory.

I carry the 357 sig and reload for it as well , it's very comparable to the 40 for how loud it is , the recoil is very similar as well in my Glock 23 .

The recoil is about the same as 40 cal.....maybe a bit less.
Mine is a full size.
I dont notice it being extremely loud.
However, I shoot alot of 357 mag and 10mm.....so im used to loud.

Your ears will bleed!
It is louder but nothing of significant relevance with regular protection. In indoors galeries I suggedt to double up no matter what and with rifles too whenever you can.
As a round is awsome. Shoots very flat and hits very hard and it comes through glass like knife through butter even the hardest glass and metal and whatever barrier oart of clothing or not where other slower calibers like s 40 or 45 might find a problem.
That is why it has been a favorite of elite units including the USSS and many police and special units around the globe.
Just keep in mind the budget amlo has been detuned so buy full power 357SIG for SD.
It is essentially a 357 magnum in a modern compact autooader.

Btw... the recoil is like a 40 cal. Average 115-125gr loads are even easier tonshoot than the 40 cal bit the full power 125-140grr is just a tad snappier. But all is compemsated by how flat is to shoot. Amd it is really hard to tell because other factors like your gun, springs, hands, actualnperception probably have more impact than any measurable differnces that might be only relevant for a lab comparison.

Um curiosity? Seeing how loud another bottleneck pistol round was (762x25) I was just wondering. Also it is a consideration when carrying.

ETA: I assume Acer doesn't wear ear pro when shooting because he doesn't care how loud guns are.

I was able to shoot 357 sig back to back with 40 . I thought the 375 had a little more blast.

I put about 7500 rounds of full charge 357sig thru 4 1/4" and 5" M&P's that also had 40 S&W barrels and I found the recoil impulse was easier to take than the 40 -- I never tired even with courses that fired 500+ rounds per day. Range Officers were not happy with the 4 1/4" barrel -- it is loud, and I eventually switched to only using the 5" indoors, as it has less blast, probably from more complete powder burning. The 357 with full charge will strip the jackets off regular plated bullets -- lots of keyholing -- and worse with the 5" and its higher yet velocity. I had to switch to only extra-heavy plated (or FMJ) bullets for the range. I only used full charge for defensive practice as there is no point in being surprised by heavier recoil in an actual defensive situation, and the 357 is not that hard to handle with full loads, so why load down? Case life was never a problem, I 100% checked for case length before reloading, and discarded any the were over spec -- I don't think I ever saw that until 5 or more reloads. Do be aware that base bulging is a problem with barrels with poor support such as the Glock stock barrel -- I had to run all my cases thru a push-thru base resize die until I switched to the M&P, which has more support.
