Yep. Have a few extra 12GA bore snakes actually. I thought they'd fit the AKM gas tube as a quick cleaning method, but they don't really work that well -- so I just use a bottle brush and a few swabs with patches.

Pro tip. If you never use raw lead projectiles or corrosive ammo you never need to clean your barrel. If you do use raw lead just shoot a couple of fmjs through the barrel and it's clean.

Shotguns tend to get plastic fouling from the wads. No FMJ slugs are going to take that out.

As for you rifle cleaning method above, not in my guns. If the barrel is leaded, all you're going to do is make it harder to properly clean.

You ever try it? Besides not shooting raw lead through gas operated rifles which you shouldn't do anyway (for obvious reasons) the fmj technique works quite well. It'll work faster than any solvent method you can think of. It's especially nice for revolvers and straight blow back guns.
