I think anyone who can demonstrate the necessary skill and maturity should be able to fly commercial airliners and drive semi trucks.
I don't think "years since you were born" is a very useful metric for anything other than life insurance premiums.

Yep, while there is a correlation, it is not strong enough to justify using it as a metric.
Most 40 year olds today do not have the maturity of a 15 year old of 100 years ago.
Hell, many aren't even at the level of a 10 year old.
That is because we are no longer raising kids to become adults, we are attempting to keep them perpetual children.
There are an awful lot of 30 year olds without the maturity to do either of those jobs. That makes it a useless metric.
I like being responsible for my children. I will teach them what they need in life about being a good man and a good citizen. I do not need the .gov to watch over my young.
Unfortunately that’s the exception not the rule.

Wjat do they disagree with meon? I said it shouldn’t be a law but rather included in basic safety classes and publications. I said if you don’t want to then don’t. Not much of anything can or will happen to you from the perspective of the state. It doesn’t warrant this many pages. Absent extremist the sky is falling bluster, there is little to discuss in the matter.

Traffic signs and traffic lights are on public property, but I am forced to abide by them through punishment. It's not optional, it's mandatory. That's the intrusion most rational people will accept, even if they don't always abide by them.

It's reasonable for the government to mandate behavior as a condition of using public property that would not be reasonable for them to mandate universally.
For instance a speed limit on a public highway, but not a private race track.
So if I have private hunting land, why should I have to abide by these laws on my property?

If it truly is just a recommendation, or only required on state land, then it's reasonable (as a recommendation, even prudent).
But people who would be upset at it being mandatory are absolutely right to do so, and the people who aren't are being the epitome of FUDDs.
So, if you aren't upset by the concept, then I hope your stay in the people's republic of Fuddistan is comfortable.
