What I’ve been wondering is if AR are NFA Items Do I still keep it a fixed mag? I’m taking off the mag lock and making it normal because I’m paying the same $200 as everyone in free states so why limit it to a fixed mag? If this is a AWB then I’m going to grandfather all my AR federally and I think NY would have to force to watch.

That’s what I’m saying. If they are label NFA item why keep the fixed mag? It’s an AW! NY says fixed mag are not AW so do I still pay the $200 tax because if I do I’m taking out the mag because if I’m paying $200 and I still have the fixed mag and a dude from PA is also paying $200 and he doesn’t have a fixed mag, it becomes a problem.

A lot will depend on what the federal law actually says.
If it says "fixed mags are not AWs" the PA guy might be breaking out his own epoxy. Or canoe depending on how he rolls.

The problem is every time they do this the gun grabbers get smarter. Why didn’t I think of that? 1994 AWB was no new assault rifles or mags over 10 but prior manufactured hardware was grandfathered in. Future is bleak if Trump doesn’t win, the grabbers learned too much, no grandfathering, no sunset, no nomenclature/feature nonsense, full bore ban and pay/register. And then states can go beyond that. TRUMP 2020
