I agree that if you want a real shooter and plan to shoot a lot, go for the 1301 (or Benelli M4). My cutoff is definitely higher than a box of ammo/year though. The A300 really is a nice gun, but the 1301 is a really nice gun.I can’t speak for the Benelli but the 1301 definitely is the $700 better over the A300
IF you shoot more than 5-10 shells thru a shotgun once a year. If you even only put a box a month thru a shotgun the 1301 is better. The feature differences between the 2 are huge. IF you are the type of person to shoot a shotgun once a year and only put 1-2 boxes of buckshot or slugs thru it then the A300 ultima patrol will be more than adequate.
I spent weeks researching, handling and even borrowing friends A300 ultima patrol and 1301 tactical to help me decide what was best. Too many time in the past I have either bought the cheaper gun and regretted it only to go back and buy the more expensive gun and Vice versa. I simply wanted to buy once, cry once.
If you only shoot it a few times per year and want a semi-auto shotgun just because, you won't notice what you're missing with the A300. If you're into or think you might get into tactical shotgun shooting, get the 1301.
