I lived on DAK in the Navy. You fry it in a pan and use the drippings to cook your eggs. Mmm
When overseas I would buy the DAK chopped ham. That’s the best version of Spam I ever had.

I used up tge whole can of bread, its very tasty.
The butter is delicious and doesn't smoke so good for cooking, especially for me as I prefer butter to oil. Tge DAK ham is very similar to spam but with a less uniform texture and it seems to cool more evenly and tge cheese is like a tangier version of Velveeta, not amazing on its own but very good as a spread or in a sandwich
I will be getting a case of each item, maybe two of tge bread as I see myself eating a lot of it.

Ever eat expired canned goods? I occassionally eat some hormel chili and baked beans that are several years past their expiration. They make me more gassy than normal, but still not bad.
Ive also found that canned fruit doesnt last. I have had many cans explode, even if they had no visible damage to them.

It sat just fine, why wouldn't it? I eat truck stop roller food y'know, I can't imagine a bigger gastro intestinal challenge than thar.
My whole GI tract is in ruin already anyway.
I can't keep out of my canned fruits long enough to find out. Whenever I get a sweet tooth I'm craking open a can of oranges or peaches, none of em last more than a month or two at most.
I have purposely allowed food to expire, just to eat it.
The most I have gone is chunky soup that was two years old.

Most foods just get less palatable, they don't actually go bad.
It's usually a "best by" date, not an actual expiration. And even then it's a conservative estimate based on sub-optimal storage conditions.

We just recently opened to try some canned beans and chilies that were 5 years old. We were rotating some our canned goods stock and discovered them. They weren’t too bad at all and neither of us had any issues. I was a bit leery as the fermentation of canned peppers and even tomatoes can get rancid inside the can.
I have noticed a disturbing trend with canned good manufacturers in the last couple of years though. A lot of them, even the off brand cans are going to the easy pop top style of can. Those type of cans don’t and wont last for shit .

I ate 1965 C-Rations in 1980 my dad inspected the cans for damage and opened the un-damaged ones. None of us died or got sick from it.

The stand out product here for me has been tge butter belive or not. It's great for cooking as it doesn't smoke easily.
