I think I own two Bald Eagles

I have a pair perched high in our tree over-looking the creek and fields for several days now. On occasion we see a third then they get awful vocal. I'll give it a few more days before I search out back for a nest but it must be close. Seems we (the neighbors ) have a new cat hunting the same fields for mice. I have yet to see a woodchuck in my fields this year so I'm thinking the cat won't last long either. This is all within 200 yards from our back door so it's great viewing for another week then the trees will be too green to see though.

Last spring, I had two bald eagles in the road by my mailbox. Helping out the town highway department picking up roadkill. Flew off with a rabbit carcass

Adult bald eagles (if they wanted to) could pick up a fully grown domesticated house cat in their talons and crush their skull like a mouse at 400psi while in flight. They are known to eat kitty cats in urban/suburban areas. Curiosity kills the pussy cat.

Bald eagles are huge. They can easily take down a cat. Even a hawk can take down a cat.

Wanted to show off the new pets to the kids and my mom that came over for Easter breakfast, but the damn birds were nowhere to be seen all day. Maybe they had family plans too because they're back today.

They're much harder to spot now that the trees are green but I've actually mowed right underneath the tree while they are perched.
I made a stop across the road last night and my friend pointed out thier nest I've been searching for. Its only a few hundred yards north of my house in some pine trees over looking the creek.

I got an extreme close up one day down the road while walking my dogs.It was just off the road and maybe 20 yds down the road when I first spotted it.It appeared to be eating something.It became frantic as I got closer, appearing to eat faster and faster.I got a bout 20 ft away when it grabbed its prey and attempted to make a quick getaway. It was a turkey buzzard that it was clipping the wings off of.As it struggled to get in the air I could see the buzzard was still alive.The thing that really impressed me was the size of that bird,I knew they were big but seeing it that close was awesome.Its wing span looked over 5 ft wide.It had a really hard time getting in the air,struggling just above the ground for a couple hundred yards before it got high enough to clear the tree line at the other side of the field.I watched it as it headed for the mountain top about a mile or so away.It was beating its wings hard the whole way.Seeing the struggle it had with a wingless buzzard I have doubts about those videos showing them pick up coyotes and foxes and such.

I had a large red tailed drop straight down on my dog in the park , He was off the leash looking for squirrels and this giant fucking hawk just dropped down like a bolt heading right for my buddy, As a saw it , I was running and screaming toward my dog and she pulled up about 3 feet above her , My dog never saw it .

My girl Mickey was laying in the field across the road enjoying a nap in the shade.I watched a turkey buzzard circling and getting closer and closer with each circle.Must have thought she was dead.As far as I could tell she was out cold.The buzzard got about 4- 5 ft above her and she leapt from a dead sleep and came away with a tail feather.Lucky day for that buzzard.

Well the pair built a nest over the last year about 500' North of my house. They hunt from my back creekflats daily. And now they have mated and hatched 2 little ones but it seems only one survived and is growing fast. I wish my dad was alive to see this. I remember him and his best friend getting all excited when we saw a wild turkey while small game hunting back in 1980ish.

if the DEC finds out you have nest nearby, use caution. A ranger may show up and make sure you and no one else is bothering them. I had a customer in South lima that had a nest about a ½ mile from his house. The DEC boys were making regular rounds to see if anyone was trying to get close enough to film them. they take that shit seriously. Just saying?
