I think I've decided to mod my Glock

I've been considering it for quite some time now. I have G23 gen4 and have grown tired of the finger knubs and lack of under cut on the trigger guard. I am also thinking of doing a stippling pattern for better grip. I have the dremel and sanding drums to remove the finger grooves and make an under cut on the trigger guard. I have been looking at OTD for stippling points. I'm thinking of using their waffle tip 16LPI Waffle Tip

I'm obviously thinking I'd rather do this myself than pay someone. Anyone here have experience doing these mods themselves?

Do you have the backstraps still? If so use those to get some practice in and work on finding your pattern you want.

Don't rush its going to take a good while to finish but will be worth it if you take your time...

Get some painters tape to set your boarders as well.


And lastly if your really really fuck up... glock will warranty (aka replace) the frame for $100+tax (you have to pay to ship it there though)

I remember your thread on that. I do have the back straps as well as some kydex sheets I could use to practice on. I've been watching a lot of youtube vids on the subject. I think one of the biggest things is deciding on a stippling pattern and how I want to undercut the trigger guard.

Some people completely sand all the oem texture off, others don't bother since the stippling will effectively erase it.

Have you thought of using grip tape instead of stippling?

Something like Talon tape after getting rid of the finger grooves? I love the Talon tape.

A trigger modification on a Glock trumps any stock trigger of any striker fired gun out there. The problem is that there aren’t many aftermarket triggers for other striker fired guns to make them as good as a Glock aftermarket trigger unless it’s for like Sig or something. And even then, there are less to choose from.

Not even a trigger mod.. get the ghost (or any of the 12 dozen versions) spring kits and a minus connector and you have the same as a gen 5/ vp9 or many other striker trigger.

Legit can't tell the difference between my gen 5 g34 trigger and my gen 4 g17 with ghost springs

I'll take my H&K trigger over my Glock trigger any day of the week.

You are talking about a stock Glock trigger. I’m talking a Glock upgraded overwatch trigger which they probably don’t have available for your pistol since they don’t usually make upgraded triggers for other brands. An upgraded trigger beats a stock trigger from almost any other brand.

Weird question, but, I buy the gun with what trigger I like the best.

When I am ready to purchase a gun, I do my research first, I go to the store and I try on the gun. I feel it, I "play" with it and I try out the trigger. If I do not like the feel of the trigger, I do not buy the gun. I never think, I can buy this gun and then tear it apart and replace the stock trigger. If the gun sucks in my mind, I do not think of upgrades, just don't buy.

The stippling, if done well, does look pretty cool but it's permanent and if I end up not liking it, I've ruined my frame and will have to pay Glock for a replacement. If I install the Talons and end up liking them but still want the stippling, I can then use the installed Talons to draw the outline for the areas my stippling will go.

Just ordered a set of the rubber texture.

I was going to say the same about the 10/22, which I think may be a slightly better comparison. Decent enough out of the box, I guess, but upgrades and mods make them significantly better.

It goes like this. Glock is a better than average stock gun. There are guns out there with better sights, better triggers, etc, but those better sights and triggers on those guns aren’t better than what you can get in the aftermarket to put on your Glock.

Well, finger grooves are off. I also started the under cut. Right now it's nothing too aggressive. I haven't yet decided on the part for the support hand. I already like it more.
