Why do people think that purchasing a gun is easy? Media misinformation & lies?
The writer would not have a much easier time buying at a LGS other than readily finding an approved associate to conduct the transaction.
It is not a 3 minute ordeal Plan on an hour end to end.
If you don't have the proper documentation, they will not sell you one. We , as gun owners, know this. Federal law is a bit touchy about bending rules.

A friend of mine just bought a Remington 870 Expess at Walmart 2 days ago.
Went smooth as could be.

And, I dont want to offend anyone but, the gun he bought is a piece of crap.
Pumping the gun is like rubbing sandpaper together. He took it apart and lubed it real good but its still lousy.
He paid $350 with 1 slug barrel.
Last year I bought a Mossberg 500 with a slug barrel, a bird barrel and 3 chokes for the same price. The Mossberg is a much better gun IMO.

In PA, WallyMart, I've gotten some excellent end of season ammo prices. $7 box of 25 3" magnum turkey loads last year. 4 boxes. Must of been past expiration date on the ammo.

In NY Wally stocks ammo like it's gold, every store you go in you have to kiss the clerks ring. In Erie PA, a whole aisle of rifle and shotgun ammo just like canned goods. Good selection of handgun ammo but in a locked case.

Forget about buying online!!! Have you ever been to a gun show??? You can buy fully auto machine guns from gang members, 100 round clips, exploding assault bullets and nuclear bombs, all without a background check.. You know, that awesome gun show loophole.

I think when comparing an 870 Express to a Mossberg 500 the latter is the better gun. However the 870 Police Magnums are nicer if not better than the Mossbergs. It's a shame the 1300 Defender is no longer offered as I think its better than both the Remington and Mossberg.
These days it seems the market demands the pump action shotgun be as bizarre as possible, i.e. KelTec KSG, UTAS, and the super weird DP12.

As for the OP, yes lefties actually think its possible to put cash on the counter and walk out 5 minutes later with a belt fed open bolt machinegun. Which is something we should be able to do.

I owned an 870 Express back in the early 90s. It was a decent gun.....about as good as my new Mossberg 500.
The new Express my buddy just bought is just very shoddy. It rattles like hell and the pump action is like nails on a chalkboard.
Another friend just bought a Mossberg 590 Mariner which is a really nice gun for the money.
I have an 870 Wingmaster from the mid 1960s. It is a fantastic gun in all respects. Great trigger, great action
I wanted a shotgun for deer hunting and was going to just buy a slug barrel for the Wingmaster but bought the Mossberg instead. The Wingmaster is in pretty fantastic condition so I didnt want to bang it up in the deer woods.

Must be NY Walmart doesn't charge for NCIS. The information is entered online. No paper application. You sit at the computer and enter it. Unless you need help entering the data.

At my local Walmart employees are friendly and helpful. The shotgun I wanted was out of stock at the time. The employee reordered for me and said they'd be in the coming Thursday. I've bought 2 long guns so far.

I also found out that they have a catalog from which you can special order. Haven't tried it yet.

For ammo other than shotgun shells, true they are locked. But I go behind the counter to get a good look and decide.

Yes, I'm a Walmart fanboi. Sorry about that.
