I tend to take a contrarian view on things I am always the guy asking questions that others aren't so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
I think ww3 is already happening. We're in it now we just don't realize it.
I think that it's very likely ww3 beginning stages will be "gray zone" warfare that falls below the threshold of an actual kinetic response and slowly they will keep pushing a little more and a little more. And at some point one of the belligerents will do something like using covert means to deploy genetically targeted bio warfare viruses and simultaneously doing something else like taking out grid down and we won't know all the details or who even to blame. Was it Russia ? China? NK? Iran? Etc?
Things will be very muddled in complete confusion and chaos.
Or, think of this. What happens if China says in back channel communications that they're going to move on Taiwan and if we get involved they will halt ALL trade with us. That means things like 95% of prescription medications are no longer available and many spare parts and cheap shit are unobtanium overnights and they will also activate the hidden malware in all the hardware components that control our grid, SCADA controllers and military hardware that has been compromised. Our infrastructure would be totally F'd because we've outsourced our most critical components of critical supply chains. How popular is a US response to china going to be when it means your mom.lr brother or kids don't get prescription drugs they need to stay alive? How popular will war be when it results in our grid being devastated and putting our citizens into hardship they've never experienced.
Our politicians as re selfish bastards and were in this position because they wanted to get rich and if compromising our national security happens to get in the way so he it, because to them they are too greedy to care.
Just some things to ponder.
But if nukes fly I think there are 3 scenarios
Scenario 1, the aggressor country sends 1 some place insignificant to show they are serious.
or 2 a limited nuke strike on the others nuclear triad complexes to try and reduce their effectiveness and hope the sue for peace to save face. It's the "Escalate to deescalate" scenario
Or option 3, a sudden out of the blue full scale strategic and tactical attack to try and crush your opponent 100% and reduce their ability to hit you back. Risking global anhihation to win a nuclear ww3.this is the all or nothing proposition.

The problem with nukes and a world War is that eventually someone will start losing.
Once they're losing badly enough, they'll go all in.
Someone always eventually ends up going all in.
That's why I made my post, the trick is to either not let your opponent know you're at war or somehow get enough leverage over them to convince them not to.
I think the whole system is in trouble. I think every government is extended beyond the value of their currency and the puppet master will tell them to fight so they crash the system.
I don't think nukes will come into play because the people that want to be called master want a place for their slaves to live.

Our economy will suffer. Our quality of life will decrease. We will likely experience bio warfare, gray zone warfare (watch the forward observer channel for more details), our grid and infrastructure will be attacked and impacted, and our supply chain will be under more stress, our food availability will decrease. All of these events will likely lead to increasing civil unrest and increasing government totalitarianism.

Right now the best thing we can hope for is complete collapse of the government within each belligerent (US, Russia, China). The internal discord will force a focus on domestic policy and they won't have the time or energy to wage war.

Meat will be rationed for the same reason. Want to reduce the world population .. Women get sent to the front lines ... Everyday items will not be coming from China ... Or Germany for that matter ... The problem with that is that when the people in charge concentrate on domestic policy, they will be concentrating on maintaining control, not creating prosperity.
And one of the most sure fire ways to cement control is to unite people against a common enemy.

IMHO, we are in WW3. Financial and other battle lines are being drawn and the situation similar to alliances that were being made in the mid to late 30's. The problem the U.S. has specifically is we cannot support a sustained conventional engagement with one front let alone two with first world countries. Our Pacific fleet would be annihilated should we decide to protect Taiwan. They've run hundreds of scenarios at the Pentagon and its over. The Chinese know where every maritime support vessels is and they would be the first destroyed and sunk leaving the Fleet to fight with what's on board with no chance of resupply. If nukes are to be used it will be the U.S. that does it. We have all sorts of small tactical nukes and with very limited resources needed for war, a quick decisive end is what would be necessary. But that kicks the door wide open for a response that no one has control over.
NATO is screwed as well. Ukraine has depleted the NATO reserve ammo from small arms to artillery and they're now being supported with active supplies. The Ukraine war as rewritten all the papers on how and what would be needed for a non nuclear exchange with Russia. The Ukrainian artillery units and firing up to 4x the manufactures recommended amount and damaging the artillery guns. You can find them laughing about it on YouTube. Spray and pray small arms tactics still in effect. Grenades are in short supply as they are now teaching Ukrainians to clear trenches like a John Wick movie but leaving out that grenades will be heading their way as they are slowly and methodically pie the corners.
So with that context, I believe we shall be seeing a change is direction from our indoctrination masters. We have already seen the media isolate Russia and China as global threats. Somewhere I read of an Australian submarine that sighted Japanese carriers prior to the attack and sent message to warn Americans.
The rumor and speculation likely has some truth to it but we will never know.
He didn't "allow" the attack so much as he didn't try to stop it maybe tacitly was hoping to get a bloody nose to cause public outcry. I know it's semantics but there is likely truth to it. FDR was looking for an excuse to get dragged into the war to help out Europe and get out economy rolling on a war footing.
Intel had been warning of impending Japanese aggression but it wasn't known exactly what was going to occur. Regardless FDR likely expected to be attacked somewhere in the Pacific but likely not to that severity of what happened in pearl harbor.
The end result got him his desired outcome, public outrage and a caseous beli to join the war and get us out of the depression.
