Look I'm not saying I shoot through barriers for a living. I'm also not going to discount the probability of never needing to do so. The police don't either. But when they need to, their service caliber is equipped to do the job. I expect no less from the caliber I carry.

There's no way in hell I'm going to deliberately handicap myself.

I see. You are one of this people that think the police are 2 seconds away. I don't bet my life on a police rescue. I was trained not to do so.

I ride a train often. There are multiple barriers in a train car. The end doors are thicker than any car or truck door out there. Seats in rows are one on top of the other. If good forbid there is ever a shooter on the train and I'm trapped in a car without a cop in my back pocket, you best believe I will not cower in a corner and hope he doesn't make it to my car.

That's just one scenario that I could be in multiple times a month. Why on earth would i choose a slow caliber with low capacity like a .45 or a .380 in a hollow point configuration that'll not even penetrate enough under normal conditions without a barrier?

caliber aside, my preference would be capacity. I'd like to think i'd land all my shots but whomthe hell knows it's a scenario i never wish to face.

No denying the FBI likes to do there homework but even they have bounced back and forth because there really is not one good answer, take the 45 .. the slower but heavier bullet is better on windshields, the mass and slower speed offer less deflection ... but there's is the whole frying pan thing.

on the .22lr thew a windshield is iffy .. it worked that time .. i shot at a old field car side windows old mid 60 station wagon side windows and
all i got was Zingggggg .. ricochets ...

the best home defense is claymor's , why get up out of bed .. LOL ..

i follow Yankee .. i'm 50/50 on what he says .. but he is fun to watch ..

Yea. Some of what he says I agree with and other stuff he says is completely asinine in my opinion. Yet I believe he is funny. He's very opinionated like me so I relate to him.

Shot placement always wins!

For penetration consideration, ie, winter carry, there's none better than. 357Sig @ full spec - 1550fps! :)

Summer carry when going light, yeah, I carry my .380 with Underwood Hot loads ;)

My 9mm pretty much is neglected lately, sorry to say, lol.

Again, penetration don't mean a thing if you don't hit where you aim! Lol... That is and should be, first priority over what caliber or load you use. Just my $.02

Shot placement first followed by penetration 2nd. But they both have to be together to work. One cannot work without the other for stopping a threat.

As far as the .380 goes, you need the right bullet if configured in a hollow point configuration. Speed means nothing if the round overexpands and doesn't penetrate enough. Think a shot through a shoulder trying to hit vitals.

Not all shots can be perfect if the perp doesn't stand still and you need to shoot through a shoulder.
