Yes I have realized that.
Thank you all for the input. I’ve learned my lesson and will now take my business elsewhere. It’s unfortunate because they are close to my house and have not given me problems in the past. I have found an FFL that not only will transfer the firearm to me but actually had it in stock. Thanks again!!

Yup. My local FFL said no threaded barrels, period, for a 'fixed-mag' AR-15.

If you're in a relatively friendly municipality, it would be worth the $20 or $50 filing fee to take them to small claims court for what their bullshit is going to cost you.

DSI. Wow, what a poor excuse. Sorry for your bad experience MackM. I hope you find some good guys to shoot with on LI and a normal FFL (ie: helpful/the kind who knows what they are talking about or finds out and doesn't make crap up). It's not rocket science. Consider the extra hassle, shipping and transfer fee to be a cheap lesson in choosing and FFL and knowing what questions to ask. Thank goodness you now have a forum to ask questions before moving forward next time as well.

Can't dsi change the grip? They build firearms, I'm sure they have the proper licenses needed to swap a grip before transfer.
Probably just mad you didn't buy from them. After my first experience sending a stripped lower to a ffl I'll always call before hand now. Less of a headache.

Can and Will are very different things.
The extra skeezy part of this is that they won't own up to the fact that they are just unwilling.

Then nearly all FFL’s in NYS would be arrested. DD’s ranch by me does this all the time. The only part registered or that’s a firearm is the receiver. They can do a lot of stuff.
The shark fin I could see them questioning, but why don’t they just pin the mag or swap the grip? As others have said find a new FFL. Unfortunately any costs will be on you and the return price won’t be cheap.
