I’m going with justified. He ignored the cops for way too long, that would lead me to believe that he was on something. After that, I wouldn’t take any chances.

The police on the scene did not have the benefit of slow motion, replay or zoom. And if they get it wrong they get shot.

I just don't like the idea that one day my life might depend on how well some rookie cop's "perp radar" is working.
What are the odds that anyone of us will ever be involved in a gunfight where outcome is decided by the caliber of round we carry ? Yet many people seem to devote an awful lot of thought to that as well.

It really seems to me though that he literally, precisely did what they told him to do. And in a very reasonable manner: slowly. Now personally I could have taken cover at his 8 oclock behind the car to the right. I just didn't see amazing police work here.

Hey @Dayten , I live here in NC, and I think you are a bit wrong on the open carry aspect. Open carry means you can carry with the handgun visible, as opposed to being concealed, but in either case, the gun needs to be bolstered. Openly carrying in your hand is NOT permitted.
As I see the video, when he finally does move his right hand forward, he has the gun by the barrel. I find that highly improbable that he had it bolstered for him to move it forward like that.

I'm the first one to call foul in police shootings like this. But the guy didn't obey commands. He obviously didn't value his life. A normal person would have put it down at the first sight of the police vehicle. He was told about 15 times to put it down and just ignored them.
Edit. Just saw Dayten's slowed down video. The guy complied although late and was shot for complying. Bad shoot.

And in other threads, I get clowned on why I think printing matters. So if I'm in this situation because I printed and someone called the police and I get the same commands that this guy here got, I too could get shot.
I think what he should have done is say that it's in his pocket or holstered on his belt and that he cannot comply with that command for fear of being shot. My hands are on the ground. One of you guys come and disarm me while the other covers.

They weren’t responding to, “man with a gun,” which happens a lot and rarely ends in problems. They were responding to, “man threatening people with a gun,” found him, and were confronted with a non-compliant suspect.
No death would have been awesome, but this outcome was his fault.
I watch 10-15 body camera videos every day, oftentimes my own since I only have 4 cops and I’m supposed to watch a lot of them. They’re awesome for many reasons, but slowing them down is not reality. My job is very clear about releasing footage exactly as seen by the cop.
For example, we don’t have any night vision enhancement on our cameras because we don’t have that on our eyes.

Perp shit is perp shit. I agree with that. But even perps have rights. We are all perps. There are various levels of perp shit. I could be a perp for carrying in schools or building 80 percent pistols. You could be a perp for illegally having an unregistered SBR or more than 200 rounds of ammo in you home.
If in that situation, I wouldn't want to get shot after I thought I was complying.
I don't think this woman was a malicious murderer though. I truly think she saw something that didn't happen. It happens and after slowing down the video, it is clear that it happened.

I have to be honest I can’t see a whole lot in that video to say what the dude was doing with his hands or where the gun was held. I do know if he wasn’t threatening folks with it prompting PD’s arrival he wouldn’t have been shot

Good shoot.and if you turn up the volume, you can hear the officer say DROP the gun 5 or 6 times, not place it softly on the ground.

Appears the guy was shot as soon as the officer got a clear visual of the gun. If so That should be concerning for every gun owner. Guy definitely appeared to be in la la land. With the repeated commands of the screeching hen cop it was hard to hear if the guy tried to communicate at all but it did look like he tried to communicate at all.

Bullshit. Personally I own a gun and am not concerned in the least.
IDK if it was a good shoot or not all I've got is about a minute of Interwebz footage with absolutely no context of what lead up to the encounter with law enforcement. All I can say is I'm pretty sure i will never be in same situation and accordingly am not concerned about my own well being.
Been pulled over a few times for various reasons SOP pull over to safe place (as safe as possible). Keys out of ignition thrown on dash. Lights on inside cab if dark. Window down both hands on wheel. Haven't been shot yet (or had a gun drawn on me). Plan to keep it that way, lol...
I will defer to any police officer opinion but....if you are told to drop your weapon why in the actual f*** would you not do so? And if you wait for a minute and then attempt to do so don't you think the cops suspect something? If a cop tells you to do something... then FUCKING DO IT! You can always have a lawyer argue on your behalf after the fact if your rights were violated. It's tough to do when you are dead. WTF.
