Normally in war hospitals *aren't* areas of fighting, because they aren't defended. Once you get to one, there aren't any defenders so you just move on.
But, in Gaza, the hospital is heavily defended. What's that tell you?

That is total bullshit. Hospitals and schools , nurseries are almost always used by military's around the world .Its common practice . Only God knows how many schools and Hospitals We bombed in the Mideast because they were being used by the enemy
The advantages to the defending forces are obvious propaganda victories while at the same time providing a very large , often hardened, target ,with deep basements , many floors overlooking an area, with good fields of fire. and at the same time providing a dilemma for the enemy to target.
The advantages of the the attacking forces are to drive the civilian populace from the area for lack of medical aid while demonstrating the brutal tactics of the enemy.
Unfortunately in todays world those places are legitimate targets .
I have to agree with Calvery on the baby killings, while I dont put it past them , it sounds like the same stories We heard in every war from the last 100 years , Germans and Japanese catching baby's on bayonets, Iraqis throwing preemie babies on the floor ,Viet Cong slaughtering nurseries. its not good enough just to shoot them? they have to throw them in ovens or take thier heads like a war trophy? What kind of warrior would brag about that? Ya know, its hard to swallow , especially because it makes such a great propaganda story and rallys the peoples anger to fight.
Im not saying it didnt happen, but it in light of the fact that every side will lie during a war , and often do , I cant take it at face value for the moment . Anyone using a hospital or school as a military facility is committing a prosecutable war crime.
Yes, war crimes are common, especially in the middle east.
When I say "normally" in war, I am describing a declared war fought by western standards.
That is *not* to say that using a building that used to be a hospital or school is. But you need to evacuate the kids or patients and medical staff before you turn the place into your new field HQ.
Modern conflicts that *aren't* declared wars and *aren't* fought by uniformed combatants are a whole different deal. When the enemy isn't following the rules of war, you would be a fool to follow them yourself.
