Every time I see an article about released hostages I wonder why do they usually show a picture of the victim from before the kidnapping happened? Why not a picture of them returning?
Then I wonder what atrocities and abuses did that person have to endure that our media is glossing over.

Years ago, I saw a political cartoon that showed a terrorist looking into a hospital nursery. The sign over the window to the nursery read: "Caution - Live Ammunition."

When a culture is based almost totally on the destruction of other peaceful groups, that initial group is evil. Hamas and other radical Islamist groups fit this description. Muslims in general, especially those Israeli Arabs serving in the IDF, do not.

Blinken: You can’t operate in southern Gaza in the way you did in the north. There are two million Palestinians there. You need to evacuate fewer people from their homes, be more accurate in the attacks, not hit UN facilities, and ensure that there are enough protected areas [for civilians]. And if not? Then not to attack where there is a civilian population. What is your system of operation?

IDF Chief Herzi Halevi: We follow a number of principles — proportionality, distinction, and the laws of war. There were instances where we attacked on the basis of those principles, and instances where we decided not to attack, because we waited for a better opportunity.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant: The entire Israeli society is united behind the goal of dismantling Hamas, even if it takes months.

Blinken: I don’t think you have the credit for that.

Earlier this week, White House national security spokesman John Kirby said: “We don’t support southern operations, unless or until the Israelis can show that they’ve accounted for all the internally displaced people of Gaza.” He added that Israel had the “right and responsibility to eliminate” Hamas, though he did not explain how these two priorities could be reconciled.

It was not clear what Blinken meant by “credit” — whether financial credit from the U.S., or political credibility on the world stage.

What I think is happening is that the US is trying defuse a regional war which will draw in US forces and actually endanger Israel.

Turkey Iran Syria ( probably can throw in a lot of others including Jordan and Egypt and Pakistan.) have drawn red lines where they feel compelled to attack Isreal , if Isreal crosses those lines It will bring about a regional war in which US forces must be committed .

I belive these conditions were conveyed to the US and passed on to Isreal . Which would make sense why the US is attempting to reign in Isreal
