Just about any structure, above or below ground can be destroyed. Why not get the hostages out if they are in the tunnels referred to, if they are there and still alive. Give area residents whatever time is necessary to get away from the tunnels, then load them full of explosives and light'm up, and or bomb the shit out of them.
