Excellent points, Phazer. I was thinking almost the exact same thing as the debate was going on. He had so much ammunition he could throw at her but he sounded like he stuttered and didn't really know what he was talking about. I hate to say it, but I think this debate hit Trump really hard. He's really going to have to ante it up for the next two to come back. As much as I hate to admit it, Hillary looked far more Presidential that he did.
For what it's worth, from listening to the Main Stream Media this morning, while they all said that while Hillary won handily they gave Trump credit, basically saying he did better than any of them expected. I guess the bar is set pretty low here.

I really thought it was bad for Trump, but the polls and public opinion seems to say the opposite. I'm pretty confused with this one.

Geeez I'm glad I was working last night but to be honest after seeing the highlights I don't think it amounted to much either way. I would call it a wash. BTW has anyone heard from Assange over at Wikileaks I thought there was another doc dump coming? He wasn't found with a self inflicted GSW to the back of the head was he?

I think Clinton won the debate. Trump couldn't stay on topic and his facial expressions didn't seem very presidential. Trump had a bunch of opportunities to really hit her hard. He should have brought up Benghazi. He could have brought up her habitual lying (email scandal, taking sniper fire in Bosnia, reason for Benghazi, , being broke when they left the White House, etc). He could have brought up the Clinton Foundation and how it accepts foreign money from governments and people who oppress women more than he ever could. Trump really missed his opportunity to take her down, but he didn't. Maybe he's saving those for later debates? Who knows.

My take was as follows:
Hitlery - She didn't have much of an excuse for her wrongdoings. Like when she said she took full ownership of that stupid idea of having her own servers in her house. What ownership did she take? FBI let her skate. She didn't own jack shit. I thought she would be more articulate than she ended up being. She seems much more intellectual and erudite two decades ago; which is the last time I heard her speak to any great length (when she was First Lady). I thought Trump gave her more than enough ammo and she did nothing with it.
Trump - He came off more genuine/honest and sometimes had valid points with regard to Killery being a scumbag, but came off like a drooling idiot. I thought he was going to curl into the fetal position and cry when he droned on and on about Sean Hannity. And everything he says was inarticulate and "Oh its so beautiful". "My ideas about renegotiating trade is gonna be beautiful. Im gonna fix our coal production and its gonna be beautiful. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful." How did this guy parlay $10M into $15B? Right place at the right time? This guy is clearly no Michio Kaku or Roger Penrose. I never saw his Jerry Springer Wannabe TV show, but man this guy is a window licker.
Overall - I felt like I watched two zoo monkeys trying to fuck a football for a few hours and I needed to take a shower afterwards and do MENSA exercises to gain back the IQ points I lost watching those two shitstains. I hope the VP debates are more intelligent; and I really don't think I can stomach two more of the POTUS debates. And screw the GOP and DNC for giving these people to us. Entire Senate/Congress and 50 Governors, CEO's of DOW size companies, people like Alan Greenspan that understand global economics, people like Colin Powell and Condi Rice that understand the world stage, and THAT'S the two fucktards they threw our way?!?!?!? What..... the...... fucking..... fuck?!?!?!?!?

I didn't get a chance to read through this entire thread, so bear with me I'm all out of this is been said already.
The moderator Lester Holt was previously known to be someone who would be able to stay neutral, but he clearly proved his bias. He helped out Hitler on numerous occasions last night. And now he has lost his credibility. Trump should have jumped on this and said something to him along the lines of hey Lester you're not Candy Crowley so stop trying to help her. Lester also joined the crowd when they cheered for Trump and let them have free reign when they cheered for Hitlery.
And while I despise Hitlery I would have to give her the edge in last night's debate as she kept her composure and didn't get frazzled. Trump was definitely put on the defense with the help of the moderator unfortunately.
Trump did not take the multiple opportunities he had to really stick it to Hitler like he should have. He should have hit her harder on the email Scandal. He should have hit her on Benghazi. He should have hit her on Ben Ghazi. When she was running on and on about why hasn't released his tax returns (and suggested that he didnt make the donations hes claimed to)he should have nailed her on why 96% of all of her donations went to her own foundation. And speaking of the Clinton Foundation he let her off the hook on that one too.
So the experts are saying he was trying to take The High Ground to appear more presidential. And if that genuinely was the strategy then I'd say he pulled it off but I really would have preferred to see him put her on her heels with all of her issues.
I hope he brings out the big guns for the second debate. I did not like where the conversation went on gun control, he should have nailed her on that and he should have solidified his position rather than agreeing with her on the no-fly know buy list.

I want to think that Trump is laying low and letting her punch him so it never looks like he attacked her. Meanwhile there is a ton of stuff to spring on her throughout October while she only has some petty stuff about taxes and that he called a woman a dog 30 years ago. Woof Woof!

I said exactly that to my wife last night. I said he could pay me a few minutes of interest on his $11B fortune and I would go tear that woman up. I have spoken in front of a pair of Secretaries (USDA and DoA), and spoken at SAPphire/TechEd and would definitely not choke like he did. I'd fuck her shit up - he let her get away with so much stuff last night. Is he really that fucking stupid that an intellectual couldn't have coached him up? How the fuck did he make it through college without being able to articulate his thoughts in a coherent manner? No way is he holding back. The only thing he held back were the idiotic remarks he makes and he didn't hold back by much.
Trump has not yet figured out yet that this is not the Apprentice nor one of his businesses where he makes him self to be King. Last night he realized that he is in over his head and that this is not a game any more. He had 15 minutes of fame than it went down hill. The rest of the debate, the ole' clit made him crap himself and he couldn't pull toilet paper off the roll fast enough to wipe his ass. He was no leader last night. He trailed behind the bitch defending himself and let the opportunities past him that could have nailed her to the cross.
