I assume you must get new size pants to go IWB. What is the advice on how to judge the extra space needed.

One size bigger should do it. I normally wear a 34 waist. I buy 36 for IWB and that’s about perfect.

I CC in my yoga pants no new size, no problem. Spandex is a great modern invention.

I just wear my regular paints. My larger double stacked pistol is getting tight though. Of course it’s the pistols fault not me or the food.
I have never needed to up my pants size, just loosen up my belt some.

Buy jeans that have a little bit of stretch in them.
I've been buying boot cut jeans from old Navy that have like 1% spandex in their cotton and it's a huge improvement. Way more flexibility and comfort. It make carrying vs not carrying no real difference. The only thing I do is one belt loop difference but the pants and waist feel great with normal movement and comfort.

Depends on the gun. I need more space for a glock than a 1911.

My IWB pants are now four to six inches smaller (depending on the pant style / cut / matetial) than my waist size when I got my EDC. After I thought about all the factors of self defense I upped my exercise and lifestyle game. After I got in better shape I also found I could better conceal OWB and pocket carry too. Conceal carry might have been a motivating factor in improving my health. Just a thought.

Going up a pant size will be more comfortable. But sometimes you can get away with IWB carry without up sizing.

I can carry a G27 or M&P Shield IWB with my normal pants size. But I have to go up one pants size when I carry a G30 IWB.
