    @dsdmmat,
    Can you please explain how to shoot the money target? # of rounds? Which caliber/platform it applies to?

    Thanks!

    I feel dumb for asking but what is "freestyle"? Pretty much anything? I only ask because for a while after I first got into shooting I thought "offhand" shooting was shooting with your non-dominant hand only...

    Freestyle is one or two handed in any style hold you prefer (no rests or artificial support).

    We started with rules that stated off hand style for pistol but, not a lot of people knew what that meant so I changed it to freestyle. Off hand shooting is a one hand stance, style commonly found in bullseye shooting. Weak hand stance is the stance to which you are referring.

    I messed up due to rushing at the range, so this IS NOT an official entry since I was at 10 feet instead of 10 yards (and didn't have time to do over). Hopefully I can get back to the range this month to re-shoot..

    I felt it was worthwhile to post anyway because people mind find the ammo interesting -

    I decided to try out the new NovX 65 grain (lead-free) cartridge - 1600 feet-per-second!

    After a couple of mags to check feed and function, I shot what I thought was going to be my entry for the 10 yard target -

    nygf_011018.jpg

    Except for the one flier (I'm so bad) accuracy in my novice hands seems superb! As noted this was in a full-size M&P 2.0.

    I also shot two mags out of my M&P Shield... on the second magazine I had a Failure-to-Eject on the 2nd-to-last round. I didn't have enough rounds to continue testing (these babies are 50 cents each!), but I'm wondering if they are designed for full-size pistols only? Maybe they're too fast for a smaller pistol to cycle.. or it was just a fluke.

    Back to the cartridges.. they are so light! I'll have to weigh a mag with regular ammo and one with NovX, but I'd estimate almost half the weight. Plus the stainless casings sound cool rolling them around in your hand.

    I don't know what powder it uses, but it smelled stronger (not stinky, just... different) than the regular ball I was shooting. Anyway, looks like an interesting round for competition. They also have a +P and "hollowpoint" self-defense rounds. Though I'll stick to Critical Duty/Defense for now until I see some gel testing...

    Happy to see the add. I would have tried one when I went to the range the other day to shoot the other contest I didnt realize it was added. Also happy to see the 22 pistol add to give centerfire its own category. Hopefully it will get more people involved.

    The range I belong to stops at 200. Also the indoor pistol range has target stands at 7 an 13 yards, so I will have to wait for warmer weather to shoot the 10 yard contests. 300 might be tough to get participation there is no range anywhere near the Rochester , but a couple that have 200.
