What do you guys do with your brass thats not good for reloading anymore? I have more than a 5 gallon pail and was wondering what to do with it? Is there a place in the Rochester area that I can turn it in for a little cash?
Take it to the scrap yard. A five gallon bucket should net you between 40 and 70 bucks. Also your spent primers are scrap able too.
.............Why the hell am I dumping my brass in the range pail?! I think I'd fill a 5 gal pail in two range trips! Three trips tops!Take it to the scrap yard. A five gallon bucket should net you between 40 and 70 bucks. Also your spent primers are scrap able too.
Yep, I collect all my rimfire and scrap brass in a bucket then give it to the kid to turn in for money..............Why the hell am I dumping my brass in the range pail?! I think I'd fill a 5 gal pail in two range trips! Three trips tops!
Yes, yes they would.Would anybody here offer me a better price than $35 for 5 gals worth of once fired brass?
I can start saving it instead of giving it away.
Welp, I'll start saving it up then. Once I have a sizable quantity people can make me an offer.Yes, yes they would.

K, I shoot around 500 9mm monthly (if I'm hoke that month) and up to and even over 1k of 5.56 in the same period. I favor IMI ammo most of the time.Resale price versus scrap price is a whole different deal... Assume ammo brass is $1.25 per lb at the scrapper. ~115 pieces of 9mm brass = 1 pound. 1K pieces of 9mm brass needing full processing is $25 - $30. Do the math...
Yes.Speaking of nickel brass, is it suitable for reloading?
The brass scavengers at the range seem to shy away from it. Perhaps they think it's aluminum maybe? I don't shoot much of the nickel brass stuff anyway, too expensive.Yes.
Some think it's harder due to the plating process and that weakens it. I've never see that. I've got Nickle Plated 357 that I've shot and reloaded countless times, and lots of nickle 40.The brass scavengers at the range seem to shy away from it. Perhaps they think it's aluminum maybe? This is what I do also. It's only fitting most of the brass came from there in the first place.I put it at the gun clubs recycle bin where it is recycled and the funds are used to organize youth leagues and range maintenance.
But I could make monies! This is what I do also. It's only fitting most of the brass came from there in the first place.
