Is this what we're heading for in New York (provided that AR and AR-style rifles are not outright banned)?

It's clever. Sure, it's an utter bastardization of the original intent of the rifle's functioning. But, is nonetheless an interesting workaround (until "bolts with gas keys" become banned items).

Why not just turn the gas block to block the hole? With most handguards there's an opening there to access it.

I have one and it is hard to keep pulling it back all the time. Fired about 100 rounds of 5.56 and put it back in the rifle bag. When I got home I removed it and threw it in the AR tool box. Didn't work out for me.

Too easy to revert back for NY, I wouldn't trust it. Besides, you'd almost need to install it on another BCG. The gas key is supposed to be staked in otherwise it could come loose and cause all sorts of problems.

I kinda like that folder though!

While I think this is interesting and definitely a FU to gun grabbers, to use it effectively you have to have two BCGs fore each rifle. That way when SHTF you pop the kali key in the trash and put the semi auto BCG back in and you are GTG.

I have several straight pull bolt action ARs built with Green Mountain barrels that are not ported. Same concept bolt guns in peace, in EOTWAWKI times all bets are off (and so is the upper).

For now, Only the ATF uses that language. For now spare parts are legal and police cannot swap parts to make collected “evidence” an illegal firearm.
