Keep my AR9 or sell and get the Ruger PCC?

There you have it. Pretty simple. I know, another poll. But these are fun no? I'm seriously on the fence here and would like guidance. I don't share the same out look on AWB's as @Willjr75, but I definitely understand his logic and find it valid. While I don't like the Thordsen stock or other compliant options, I don't hate them. I do however, hate the bs of having to comply with no real and clear way to do so. I just don't like the idea of giving something up after going though a lot to get it. Putting this AR9 together wasn't as easy as it should have been, so at minimum, for that reason alone, I'm reluctant to sell it. That said, I'm trying to look forward and am interested in investing in a platform that serves my PCC needs and it 50 state legal.
For those who may be potentially interested, here is my AR9, any sale would be without optic:

What does the PCC have that your rife doesnt? If you like what you have keep it. The only this I see with the PCC is that it can break down and if that is not important why sell what you have.

If you don't mind looking at your gun and having the constant reminder of the gun laws, keep it. It breaks down just like a Ruger does by separating the lower and the upper.

Ruger didn't do anything innovative. I was just tired of the constant reminder. When I went to PA or Florida, I would convert it to normal. Had fun. Then back to NY and the goofy stock going back on made me sick.

That's why I did it. If you are okay with the stock, then I would just leave well enough alone because the AR9 is still superior.

Ok I'm loving my PCC9, but your AR is no slouch! You're rockin' MLOK handguards, Bullet guy's grip, and Glock mags. I'd keep it and maybe save up for a PCC9 if you still have a bug up your ass later. 2/3's of your gun looks good and the other 1/3 is . . . acceptable, for NY standards.

If you like your AR, you can keep your AR . . .

Oh. And your AR9 is probably lighter too. The Ruger is a heavy sumbitch for what it is. Aftermarket support is limited. You won't be able to get whatever handguard you want.

Like I said, it all boils down to how you feel about it when you pick it up.

I debated building an AR9 before getting my PC carbine but it was just easier to buy the Ruger spur of the moment last week.

900 is just the rough estimate of what I had to buy to complete it. It doesn't take into account the value of parts I already had. That said, $600 isn't a bad first offer.

I wouldn't expect to make what I put in to it. It never works out that way. You always take a loss.

I had a spur with Patrick Henry trigger guard. Very easy to handle an control

Ok. @ArmedCorgi . Here are the negatives with the Ruger PCC.

1. It's a little heavier than your AR.

2. The iron sights are okay but it's impossible to cowitness them with your red dot unless you use a high mount with a hole that you can look through. Doing do however will make you have a chin-weld instead of a cheek-weld.

3. The handguard doesn't encircle the barrel. You won't be able to get a thumbs over barrel hold when it gets hot.

4. You need tools to break it down. Constant doing so will probably mess up your zero since you have to remove the receiver from the stock. I'm waiting on a mount that'll put the red dot on the barrel itself to remedy that and ditching the iron sights. With the red dot on the barrel, zero will be absolute no matter how many times you take the gun apart.

5. You will need loctite on the charging handle otherwise it'll loosen with time. Once you do that however, you won't be able to break it down fully.

Positives.

1. It shoots with less recoil than my AR9 ever did. Almost none. Like a .22lr.

2. It's reliable to all hell. Not a single malfunction with ball rounds and Xtreme Penetrators.

3. It's just as accurate as my AR9 was.

4. After my first outing of about 300 rounds, the bolt wasn't that dirty on the inside. It can probably handle thousands of rounds without a cleaning.

5. You don't have to worry about any legalities with stocks, barrel caps, grips, ect. It's good to go as is.

6. You can make it look cool with this handguard. I'm waiting for it to come in the mail.



7. If you go out of state with it, no one will give you weird looks like they would with an AR9 with a Thordsen stock. In fact, they'll probably have the same Ruger. It's a hit in free states for some reason.

I've tried that. It's useless for serious use other than the range. I did drills opening doors and carrying things and one handed with that Spur, it wasn't ideal.

The Thordsen is the best bet for featureless.

Edit. I didn't see the long Patrick Henry. That might work better but durability can be an issue.

The extended trigger guard works great with the spur. Much better than Patrick Henry single groove.

True. That's another reason why I went PC9. I'll never have to worry about any legalities. It's my wife's under the bed gun. If she ever has to use it, I don't want her to have to explain legalities about pinned threaded barrels, stocks, ect.
