Another thing I’ll say, this is a pretty good example of a situation that makes you consider what you’re carrying every day. I know the micro 9’s and .380’s are really popular but that’s not what I’d want to have in this situation. A full or mid size pistol with a few extra mags would be much better suited to do the job. If you do have to draw a full size glock or whatever is going to send a lot more people running than some micro gun you can barely grip with both hands. Just my opinion.

You misunderstood me. I never suggested scaring someone off. I said don’t give up that you have the gun until it’s time to use it in this situation.

There are more factors. Full size pistols are better suited for a fight than a micro. If you’re not convinced then I’d say it’s time to take some realistic training firing on the move and under stress. Not standing still and shooting a piece of paper.

Of course. But given the situation we’re taking about here, a full size is the better tool. Now days it seems no place is safe and a mob could pop up anywhere. BLM had Wegmans in Rochester surrounded a month or 2 ago.

The reality of self defense law in NY can vary widely just driving 20 mins down the road.

Actions that would be considered completely justified in one county would land you a free stay at the gray bar hotel in the next one. Despite the black letter law being identical in both.

I’ve said it before. NY is one of the most liberal of all states when it comes to being authorized by law in using DF. It’s shocking to those that don’t have a good understanding of A35. People really need to get some kind of training on this that goes above and beyond reading A35 online.

The problem is most “instructors” don’t know anything either. They just teach what they think is right. People need to invest the money and be trained properly and that should involve a lawyer who is an expert in the field giving instruction.

I was taught by a top lawyer who pretty much all the police unions use in a use of force case involving their departments.

I have a friend who has had his permit for years not even know what A35 was. I told him he should stop carrying until he figured it out.

Ergos play a huge roll in my results as a shooter. The double-stack glocks are just too boxy and fat for my hands and the grip angle is tough to train with.
That being said, I try to train with all of the guns I carry at some point and time. I just haven't found any real-world advantages to having the G19 vs. the P365 for example. And the trigger on the G19 is just awful. Even the gen5. Now that I carry with the RDS on the 365, my shots are even better than my very-stock G19.

If I was in any situation like this, I would just be happy to have any advantage over the bad guys.

Another advantage to have is understanding the term "No Mercy". Once you engage a bad guy, you show no empathy, sympathy or mercy for the ones you are engaged with. Once you begin, you do not stop until the threat is decimated!

I have been lucky, I have had some great instruction on Article 35 as well as other parts of the law.

Nearly as important as the Article that justifies your use of force, read up on some case law as well. Case law can and will save you in a court of law!
