Volcano started at 3:15pm ... 10:15am EST and has now 7 cracks/cones blasting ash and rocks in the air. 5k people have been evacuated from the surrounding villages and they might have to evacuate a close by town of 35k people depending on whether the lava rivers divert towards that location or new cracks start on the mountain side. But according to the local news the initial high volume is a good thing as the volcano becomes more predictable than those in the past and other islands more prone to huge sudden explosions.
They are evacuating livestock, and people fast as the lava rivers will swallow the mountain side roads and whoever doesn't leave might be cut off.
