This is going to be messy as it plays out.

If this gets brought up from the floor during the meeting, especially if whom ever brings it up is enough up to speed in the proper way to go about bringing it up that they don't get shut down, things will get sporty quick.

If more than a few "influential" board members ask for LaPierre's resignation, he's done.

Its important to remember that all of this stuff is coming to light because of Bloomberg and his anti-gun propaganda arm. That doesn't mean it not true, but it is getting put out there in the worst possible light. So far, there are rumors of fiscal mismanagement, dereliction of duty by the BOD and budgetary crisis - but no supporting documentation or evidence. The cricket sounds coming from NRA isn't helping - its letting Bloomberg get his messaging out there as total, unchallenged fact. That's a harder position to fight back from than countering his message from the start.

My opinion... I still support the NRA - financially and politically. I support them for what they do, not what I wish they would do.

I'm not crazy about Wayne. I think he's a shitty spokesperson, and a poor leader. For the title equivalent of CEO of an organization that size, I don't think his salary is out of line, but there is significantly more talent available for that kind of pay check.

With the limited knowledge I have of the way NRA conducts their business, I don't think they're doing anything illegal. Unfortunately, that will have no effect on Monkeyface and AG Letitia James going after them for political gain. NRA better have their books squeaky clean, and the BOD better be able to show that they haven't been asleep at the wheel. It kind of makes some of the resignations that have taken place over the past year or so - Pete Brownell, Tom Selleck, etc. - seem a little more consequential. Could be they didn't like what they were seeing and jumped ship.

Kind of similar to the recent FIB corruption, bad apples at the top making the whole bunch look bad.

After stewing in anger for a few days, I am sending the NRA and the ILA their dues. The fact is the NRA spent bookoo $ to help get Trump elected, and FUAC and Bloomy despise them.
I hope the ship gets righted quickly, the pessimist in me doubts it ; but we will see.

They typically (for the past 10 years or so that I've been paying attention) serve for 2 terms then move on.

I haven't gotten a good reason why Brownell left so soon. Maybe he was upset with the lack of authority he had as president (likely), mabey he saw the situation that was on the horizon and didn't want to be involved, or maybe there was a personal spat.

Wayne has lost a ton of credibility and respect with that letter he gave to the WSJ. I can't guess how this might turn out.

No he isnt "good at his job" otherwise the NRA would be actually fighting to preserve the 2A.

There is a whole thing that I guess happened in the mid to late 70s. The NRA from the beginning has only ever really cared about hunting and sporting and fudd shit.

But in the 70s the old guard wanted to keep the status quo and even move the headquarters to California, but a lot of board members wanted change and to turn the NRA into what people think it is now and what people think it always was. This lead to a "revolt"

The issue is they put LaPierre into power and he changed the whole structure making it so that the board has no power what so ever making sure that there could never be another revolt ousting him, thus securing him a lifetime position go make millions (dont forget even when he leaves he is going to be making the same amount of money from the NRA for life)

In all fairness, nysrpa has done nothing for us. In fact Tom King has trash-talked gun owners like us on several occasions and has made disparaging remarks towards us.

I get that the left is probably very happy that gun owners like us are openly voicing our displeasure with the NRA. I'm sure that is their goal, but considering the NRA has done very little for people of New York and other blue States it might take them going down before they can be reborn and actually start helping us.

The GOA, and SAF I've done far more for gun owners this country than the NRA.

As far as local gun rights groups I always preferred SCOPE, but with all the changes that happened over there I'm not ready to get behind them again
