I'm not sure but if repealed I think we go back to nothing. The pre-existing law has already been stricken and replaced. If the Safe Act was stricken, it would go back to nothing. Once stricken, it's gone.

I am not getting excited by a Johnson / Weld mold Libertarian un-doing the SAFE act and 2A infringements of New York. Larry Sharpe has stated he is not pro-gun and claims he does not like guns. On the upside as a libertarian who recognizes the 2A, however, he would be strongly against grabbing guns and further legislative restrictions. Just as he would be against seizing or criminalizing recteational drugs since he is a small government Libertatian which is not a bad thing for 2A rights. Living a lifetime in NYC, I doubt he is a gun owner and likely does not exercise his own 2A rights. His campaign website has his plans and platform for New York and the SAFE act is not on his radar.

I personally am more comfortable with Molinaro. I have seen him at a gun club, I had a chance to talk to him about 2A in length, he is Rated A by the NRA, he is Rated F by the New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, he has a voting record that includes voting against 7575 (prohibit gun ownership for accused domestic abusers) / 6468 - (microstamping) / 801 - (pistol permit renewal), he spoke out against over reaching City of Poughkeepsie safe storage
