Lee Arms AK47

So I love my AK from Lee Arms, and i bought a case of TulAmmo and every once and a while the first bullet will not feed. I thought it was a bad round but it happened a few more times. Round worked fine in the next clip. I only have around 200 rounds through mine. Is there any better ammo out there? Also would like to buy a 10 round steel mag. Do you sell them if not is there a certain brand that will work better then the others, such as chinese etc.

Could be a magazine issue. When it happens again, mark the magazine and stop using it. See if it happens with the other magazine. If it doesn't, now you know what was the problem. Throw the offending magazine in the garbage.

We usually used brass for our AKs and steel for our mini 30

As for th OP, Tulammo is the bottom of the barrel ammunition but it's mostly what you'll find. Anything out of the Russian Ulyanovsk plant will be of higher quality. I belive that the Wolf Military Classic is sourced from that plant. Yugo ammo, if you can find it, is also good quality though corrosive. As far as mags, we're the malfunctions confined to one magazine? If so get rid of it. I belive there are some 10 round steel ones from Korea about.

I don't know if these are double stacks or not, looks like it though. The Russian Saiga and Vepr mags are single stacks and are not compatible with one another. I'm assuming your Lee Armory rifle takes double stacks.

As a guy who loves to shoot Mini 30's a LOT, I humbly say we use boxer primed brass ammo 99.99% of the time. Maybe you jest and I didn't catch it.

If it's the banana clip don't throw it away! Usually with those steel clipazines it'll be a tiny bur or other imperfection like a small patch of rust on the inside that will make it feed funny. Take it apart and look at the inside of the magazine clip with a flashlight. Sand or file any imperfections away and make sure the clip's lips's are the same as known working ones. They might have to be squeezed or spread apart a tiny bit.
