Legal .22 ?

So, my pal from South Carolina is spending the rest of summer in NY and wants to know if he can bring his T/C .22.

It has that little threaded thing on the muzzle so I am thinking it is not legal in this shit hole but don't really know anymore because laws no longer make any sense. Just don't want him getting in trouble, especially over something so stupid. He did three tours in RVN, I don't want him doing one tour in a NY gulag.
I hate this effing state.

What he can do is put blue loctite on the threads and barrel cap to temporarily disable the threaded muzzle feature. While not 100 percent legal as per ATF methods, I seriously doubt an LEO would even give a gun like that a second look. And if he did and tried to unscrew the cap with his hand and failed due to the blue loctite, I also seriously doubt that he would take the rifle into custody to throw the barrel in an oven or use a heat torch to disable the blue loctite to be able to unscrew the barrel cap.

Ny has no approved method of affixing a barrel cap to disable the threads. Only the ATF does and this will not fall under any ATF laws to be broken.

I would use red just to be safe and claim it's not threaded. That spot is easy enough to get a torch on to remove. Heat it right on the protector, remove and get a new protector.

Now I want to try this and see if it works as a suppressor......

Can you see the muzzle blast inflating it like a balloon, then it deflating with a long farting sound through the exit hole.

You might end up in court, and if the ATF lawyer can keep a straight face long enough as he explains how dangerous it is you might end up in prison, but you'd have a hell of a story to tell.

The Thomson Center site said this 22 is compatible with most 10/22 after market parts, I could have sent you a take-off barrel. It your's if your friend would want it. I just have to dig it out!

I suppose too as long as it stays at or above 16" he could always cut the end off and recrown. Basically just shorten the barrel.

Damn shame to do that, everything I've seen these are very nice.
