The first generation Uzi is just okay in my opinion. Like I've said before, The bolt is heavy and it's not quite as easy to control as other SMG's. I think if the cyclic rate was higher, it would be easier to control the muzzle rise, but it's slow enough that it can be hard to control on full auto. I know a lot of people add a thicker buffer pad which increases the rate of fire as it shortens the stroke, and they're much happier with it that way.
MP5's are like shooting 22lr's, they are such great guns. The roller system is great, it works and they are excellent by today's standards. Very easy to control on full auto. Even the MP5-k which is very compact is a fantastic shooting gun and is quite easy to shoot. A suppressed a2 or a3 is literally like shooting a 22lr rifle.

The only good thing about the uzi was it's reliability. I ran a heavier buffer in it as well. Parts were cheap Barrels were cheap. Bolts. Lowers etc. were inexpensive. The MP5 ran like a sewing machine. The A3 stock was only good with body armor. Ran an A2 the rest of the time. I also had a M16A2. That was a hoot as well
