yrs n yrs ago i had Polycarbonate rods for num chucks .. yeah LEO took them lol

i beat the crap out of them hitting stuff .. no chips or damage ..

how would a Polycarbonate lower and upper stand up ..

all clear polycarb plastic .. only metal would be the barrel and springs and trigger group .. ( could the bolt hold up in polycarb ? humm )

just thinking out of the box . and you know they hate ghosts lol

PS the rods i had were red and blue .. it can be in colors too

It would just have to be redesigned and beefed up to account for the weak points. You couldn't do a direct 1:1 aluminum/poly replacement.
