local shop selling ny 10 lowers

They have a steel rivet thru the front of the Magpul 10 rd mag. Have to destroy the mag to get it out.


Not my quote, employees's at store. I've went back again since my original post w/ some dummy rounds. I have ogre size hands and to me, the port seems like it would be too clumsy to load singly. Not interested in using a side loader device.

Back in 2002-2007, I did the FAB10 for Calif. It was a fixed box magazine. Biggest complaint was that when action was jammed, you could not drop mag to clear, and could not open up the receivcer with bolt carrier jammed. The NY10 solves that issue, and also can be loaded from the side. With the new port loaders, that is even faster. These are more time consuming to do than just a stripped lower. Have to recoup patent costs as well. It is a shame we have to go to this, but my goal is to keep us in the game and to be able to pass on tradition to our kids. If you are worried about SHTF, you can have that covered as well with a 30 second swap. I tried for 2 years to promote the NY10. Not enough interest to really get excited about. CGG contacted me and was very interested. I went with them and they have treated me fine. It is just my contribution to the fight other than just paying my NRA dues. Craig

I saw it first in a thread a couple years ago. I think it's a smart design, for people who go the fixed mag route.

They should make one with no magazine in it and pins drilled into the bottom magazine hole to prevent magazines from being inserted from the bottom. Then you can buy a bunch of 3 round Magneto Speed Minimags MiniMAG and insert them through the side hole in the receiver. This would be NY legal as per the following exception in the SAFE Act:

(g) provided, however, that such term does not include:
(ii) a semiautomatic rifle that cannot accept a detachable magazine
that holds more than five rounds of ammunition;

I don't know of a magazine over 5 rounds that can fit through that side hole.

EDIT: I thought you were referring to the ejection port. I forgot these lowers have a window cut into the magwell. My bad!

I spotted these a couple of weeks ago. They have a steel rivet thru the front of the Magpul 10 rd mag. Have to destroy the mag to get it out. Bottom of mag comes off easy in case of jam. CMS is making these only for Capital gun group I was told. $199.00 for the stripped lower. Seems like a good way to go. What's the consensus here?

I bought one of your lowers two year ago I think? It was when you were still doing custom serials. It’s been flawless so far and definitely my favorite fixed mag route. I always appreciate anyone who is trying to innovate for anti 2A states.

Agreed. Unfortunately I missed the original boat and they’re all pistols now. I jumped on this but would love to replace my paperweight DSI for my 16” upper. If you get a double feed on the DSI you have to remove the bottom of the magazine. Imagine trying that while someone is running at you.

I’d pay $500 for the regular CMS lower to anyone willing to part with theirs.

I like the design of the lower, but $200/ stripped lower seems like a lot.

HATE to admit it..............I HAD one for a short time.............Did NOT like it. I have big square hands and sausage fingers......I had a bad time trying to load the damn thing.......the follower had to be pushed down and ''click'' into place or the bullets would not seat right. I took it back to Olesen's shop and got $125.00 for a $200.00 lower. When dealing w/ Capital gun group you WILL come out on the bottom. OH also had to return the 1st one cuz the bolt catch was drilled at an angle and when you got the bolt catch in, it would not move w/o ''helping it along'' with a mallet. Piece of shit , really. the second one had issues w/ a safety working, had to sand it down to work FINALLY.

Ha ha ha. Removing rivits do not require “destruction of lower”. Just drill the rivit. Then remove mag. Simple.
