Long Barreled 7.62x39 AR

Do 7.62x39 AR15 uppers with 20" or 18" barrels exist? I've never seen anything longer than 16".

Interesting article but I completely disagree with the 7.62x39 being more versatile than the .223/5.56. What with the dizzy array of ammunition types, projectile types and manufactures of the latter vs the decidedly one trick ponieness of the former.

When I built mine I also could not find a longer barrel anywhere. Now, a lot of folks said the round was designed around a 16 inch AK barrel not anything longer. So I went with a 16.

The prototypes were 20" and so was the sks though.

My 16” 7.62x39 KS-47 is almost as accurate as my Remington 700 .30-06 at 100 yards. I reload for it for pig hunting. Haven’t taken a deer with it yet. It’s my favorite rifle.

YHM has a 20" barrel with no muzzle threads for $150. With handloads mine will stay right at 1" groups at 100 yards for 10 shots. I've seen them on sale for $112 at times.
